...I may stop to keep the peace.

All your posts are very appreciated, especially by lurkers who occasionally pop out (such as me).

There's going to be chaos in this thread until we get something solid, and official as far as a release date. On that, I guess there'll still be chaos, this being an internet forum and all, but it'll be different chaos, so we're good. :p

All that said, I'm about to bust a gut waiting for this phone...didn't even have that on the DInc this early, just after, while I was waiting for the preorder to ship. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas...and I hope and pray that I'm not *actually* waiting for Christmas in this case.

Pissed off is not quite what I'm feeling, now. All of the pointed nay-saying and criticism, by CK and some others is making me wonder if I am actually doing our thread and Android Forums, in general, a service.

I re-evaluating giving information from The Source, going forward. This is not based upon the Source's integrity, but upon the group's reaction to changing and breaking information, as it becomes available. I don't believe some, in the group, are handling the changing news of a fluid and changing situation well, at all. I may stop to keep the peace.

On a personal note, our group cries out for more news and when some comes that isn't positive, some call "bs" and call our Source a "liar". Let's just assume The Source is genuine and that the situation was changing, genuinely? If I was him/her I wouldn't bother with us, but I'm not him/her. He/She seems to be very understanding and patient with us. I, on the other hand, am not so much. I'm a moderator here. I have to keep the peace. That's why I'm thinking "t'ain't worth it."

I'm going to chat with Early about this and get back to you. He's always been a big brother/help to me. I have no doubt he'll give me wisdom, here. I'll get back to you.

To reiterate what many have said - we are always going to hear from the naysayers and the doubtful. Personally, I love getting the info, whether it be good or bad.

I'd almost say a poll should be created and let the majority decide. I'd be willing to bet that you'd have far more people who want the news (good, bad, indifferent) than to NOT have the news.

Steven, when some of us call BS we are doing so out of a duty to present the other side, knowing that not even all *internal* sources have the lastest info or know the real stories. Many, many corporate drones (I speak as one in another industry) know only the cover stories that they are told by their own people.

The group on this thread does a much better job at competitive intelligence than most companies pay people to do.

I am ALWAYS grateful for the information that you are kind enough to pass along. The "shenanigans" comments are not about your source, about you, or about the honest motivations behind the information.

This is more the basis of my concerns than anything related to the integrity of the source/love tunnel. It is odd though that P3/BMX get similar info out before him some times. This seems to suggest the love tunnel isn't always the first alerted to such info.

Do we know if the source fishes for such things validity based on P3/BMX leaks to basically try and relay confirm or deny on them to us?

I will tell you one way that this information is useful to me. I'm now strategizing on how to convince hubby that I need to pre-order this phone the moment it's available rather than just going along assuming that regardless of when it's released I will at some point be able to stroll into a store somewhere and pick one up.

I cannot last until December to get a new phone! My OG died in July! I'm on a BLACKBERRY!

P3 knows nothing if it's not related to a ROM. BMX has sources inside Verizon (probably higher ups) because he used to work there. On top of that, he also works at Google, so it's not surprising that he might get info first.

However, the Love Tunnel was the first (to my knowledge) to confirm removable battery and no SD slot. I also think he said there was a tiff between Verizon and Samsung or whatever, and then it was posted elsewhere on the net.

Why all the "hate" on here for the Rezound? I've seen it repeatedly referred to with derogatory names. Typical post says something like "RAZR and *ound", where * is equal to ReH, CrapH, etc. I don't see the same treatment of the RAZR. I don't get it. If I am unable to get the GNex, that one's my first choice.

I think most of the "hate" is towards the name and not the device itself. Personally, I can't stand the name. Vigor sounded so much better than Rezound.

OTD is right - the "hate" is mainly for the name, not the device itself. it has some impressive specs. but, for me, it's not even in the same zip code as a possible choice. HTC has not proven that it can overcome its history of poor battery performance. and, the Re*gag* is adding an HD screen and LTE - the 2 biggest battery consumers in a device.

We shouldn't just shut down an information source because a few folks cry foul. Just to play a bit of devil's advocate, we also shouldn't take it so personally when someone questions some information. If the source is familiar with forums at all, they know that someone is going to dispute inside information.

The last time there was a dispute about the source's validity, it turned into a burn-at-the-stake situation, where people claimed that Steven himself was under attack(which I personally never saw, unless of course it got modded out). We shouldn't be so reactionary.

By the way, here's my personal take on the source:
  • He's a VZW insider. I trust that since Steven's vouching for that credibility
  • He's not a high-level insider. He states almost all of his information is at least second-hand
  • Since that's the case, some of his information can and will get miscommunicated.
  • Obviously the situation is fluid, so changes in release dates should come as no surprise.

I'm going to ask an unpopular question here:
How many on this thread want the vanilla/pure/no bloat/rootable experience because you're actually going to do something useful/productive with that ability, vs. just wanting to have that ability but not have it actually affect how you use the phone?

I ask because I've determined in that I fall into the latter camp. Combined with my unhappiness over no SD, the 5Mpx camera (apparently the sensor quality isn't that phenomenal to make up for it, based on the leaked pics I've seen), and the fact that ICS will soon be available for RAZR and REZOUND, I think I'm going to jump ship here.

I'm probably on the later camp as I don't see the need for rooting with Nexus as much as other phone. I don't like bloatwares bogging down the resource, but it's probably less issue as high end phone hardware is plenty powerful today.

As far as Razr, Rezound, it's ultimately your call. Just know that 5Mp sensor doesn't have make up for anything vs 8Mp. It's actually the other way around as higher mega pixel sensor has to fight noise harder for sharp pictures. Rezound seems like good phone. I'm hesitant to go HTC because Tbolt sucked so much on battery and this one adds dual core, HD screen to it with marginally bigger battery. HTC still has to prove me they got their acts together on battery life, IMO. I'm just afraid that the moment I get Razr the imminent G Nex release date news will come up and have buyer's remorse like some Bionic users.

Well said. Hmm, and you even put in bullet points. You get a gold star.

flashback to Mrs. Hines' 9th grade English class, who used to give out gold stars and fantasy fodder. Ahhh. . .the good old days. . . .

Based on your posting history, I fully expected a gold star picture in the hidden section. I was sadly disappointed. :p

+1

Battery life is a concern of mine, however, I'm rarely far from a charger. My biggest requirement is that the phone can last entire baseball game with continuous use (keeping score for 3+ hrs). There's already been an extended battery leaked for the Vigor, so I'm thinking that'll be a necessary add-on.
