Music on SD not found

I loaded some CD's onto my computer and then put them in the "music" folder on my phone's SD. They play fine from the computer. Then when I open my Sony Xperia Play apps (16 square grid at center, bottom of phone) and click "music" it only lists the 3 preloaded songs. I am a smart-phone novice, so please make any responses very simple and clear, or I'll just get confused more. Listening to music on my phone seems like such a basic thing! I had no problem copying photos from the same computer into my images "gallery" so why is music any different?

To interject there are two main causes of this:

1. You have ripped the CD with Windows Media Player and the files are in wma format, the operating system does not like this. The solution is to use MediaGo or other ripping software so that tracks end up in a more compatible format like mp3.

2. When the handset is connected to the PC check in the memory card for a folder called "nomedia" if you have this check the content and then delete the folder.
