Touch screen dead zone

My eris was working great for a while, but the last few days i've noticed a bug that I can't solve that's really starting to get annoying.

It appears that there is a dead-zone on my touchscreen right bellow the top bar. I can use the pull-down notification window, but i can't press the Clear Notifications button. It simply does not register. If I'm in the Phone window, I can't press the top contact to call. Again, the push just doesn't register. In Gdocs Notepad, i can press each line on the screen to move the cursor, except the top line.

Is anyone else seeing this issue? I can't find it anywhere and i've been searching for it for 3 days now. HTC hasn't returned my support request, and I really don't know what else to try. I can't seem to find a screen calibration app or anything, so I'm kinda lost as to what to try next.

Download paint from the the market and draw in that area just to be sure. If it isn't registering then call VZW

Downloaded MagicMarker (it was the only one i could find without an ad or a menu where the deadzone is.) It looks like there is definitely a problem with the screen at that position. I've attached a photo of the screen. I'll bring it into VZW and see what they say. Thanks for the help.

Talked to VZW, since I bought the phone in December, it was still under the 90 day MFG warranty, so they are replacing the phone. I was hoping it would be just a software bug somewhere, but what can you do?

I am happy about the VZW support though. They were quick, nice, and should have my replacement to me in the next few days at no charge.

Thanks again for the help. In retrospect, i should have done the paint trick first, but it's been a long few days at work and it never crossed my mind.
