We know wireless charging is a feature on the ReZound. My question is after looking at some pics from yesterday it appears to me that the stock battery cover is already made for wireless charging. So that you don't have to buy a new inductive cover like the way you have had to do with most wireless charging phones.

See the two contacts at the bottom of the cover that match up with the contacts on the back of the phone.

We have the same connectors on the Thunderbolt which is tied to the Antenna. I learned this the hard way. When the phone's battery would get real hot, I'd remove the cover trying to get more airflow to the battery and my signal would go down like Ron Jeremy at a porno shoot.

now that you mention that. It makes sense. I guess if it was a charging cover the contacts would be closer to the batter.

Something that makes me optimistic is the amount of contacts on the Rezound's back cover. It looks like they have beefed up their antennas. That should definitely help with battery life if it can keep a solid signal. I would think being able to have a constant strong signal would do more for better battery life than having a bigger battery in a phone with marginal signal reception. Looking forward to the reviews.

Agreed NightAngel. I don't know why manufacturers won't include a wireless charging cover stock. To me that would be a pretty good selling point.

+1 But since they standardized cell phone's charging ports and no longer get to sell a different charger with every phone, which in turn means a new car charger everytime you swap (everyone remember those days), that they have switched to doing this. Sucks but I'd rather be able to carry over my wired charging accessories than worry about wireless since it's still kinda a niche market.

Besides the only advantages I can see with wireless charging is less charging port wear and the ability to charge multiple devices on one charger (if the pad's big enough). Even then, you still gotta take the wireless charging pad with you, and that's a lot more bulk than a standard charger. Until they have something like a solar charging back cover (or touchscreen) it still means carrying something with you to charge the phone. So that's why I'm not really all that excited about going to wireless charging.

i agree the amount of copper on that thing has to be there for a reason. If they did beef up the antennas then that is awesome as i'm in a low to mid signal strength area at my home.

The standard battery door that comes with the phone is NOT a wireless charging door. The wireless charging door is sold separately. The contacts on the inside if the battery door that comes with the phone is for reception purposes and not for wireless charging. Here is the wireless charging door for HTC rezound

If you are drawing such a hard conclusion off of the website you cited, then I'm gonna have to disagree with you there, Bobbo. If it didn't come with wireless charging, then they would like have TWO types of covers for sale. Since they only have the one made for wireless charging, then it stands to reason that IS the only cover that is made for it.

Actually, they don't sell the stock battery door for any of the phones on that site. The only sell wireless charging doors, extended battery doors, and colored battery doors (like the white and red variants for the OG Incredible). I've never seen a cellphone sold with the wireless back included, and I doubt they'll start here.

I don't follow your logic. Since a replacement wireless charging battery cover is for sale, the original one isn't fitted with the receiving inductors? And what leads you to say the contacts shown are for reception purposes? If it is speculation, please state it as such.

I picked up a Rezound on Monday, when it was released, however Verizon didn't know if the phone could be charged wireless. I know there was some speculation that all of the extra material in the back side of the cover was for wireless charging, however I haven't found any solid info on that. If anyone knows, I would greatly appreciate it!

So far, loving the Rezound.
