Goodbye my eris friends....

Dues to an unfortunate snow related accident i will be lewaving the eris forums and moving over to the droid forums. I want to thank all of you on here for all of your help and advice for the last few weeks i have owned my eris.

Yesterday's snow here in new england brought my eris to it's demise and since i'm such a phone junky (and the fact that i have a good friend at verizon), i am now trying out the droid.

I will say this....although it's only been a day with the droid....the battery seems to be way better on this than the eris. I will miss my sense ui though.

Thank you again everyone. Hit me up.

i hope it works out and i'm sorry to hear about your poor eris. If you end up missing sense that much, you could always root your droid and load a custom rom with it on there.

i'd like to try a root but that stuff scares me sometimes....i'm afraid i would screw up my phone. Thank you otd for all of your help especially....you are one smart cookie.

I'm skeptical with motorola as well guys....i really am. I got 30 days to see how it works for me. I'll keep y'all posted. And i fell in my driveway and landed on my phone, my buddy hooked me up at verizon and did a trade for me in the 30 try out. I'm gonna play with this and if it works for me i'll stick with it. If not....i'm sure i'll be back with htc's newest device once it hits verizon.

I hope you bought some salt for your driveway, too.

You guys are the nicest people ever. If someone traded their Moto Droid for another phone...it'll be flame city in the Droid forums. haha. Anyways, this Moto phone is really well built as in durability. The design is another issue. It does take time to get used to the kb but you will. And to truly appreciate your Moto Droid, I would recommend rooting.

Long live Android! HTC and Moto alike. haha

what are the advantages of rooting? I'm still new to the Android world and I'm curious how this works and if it's worth it and how safe and easy is it to do?

This is the kind of thoughtful, sophisticated analysis that draws me back here again and again. Elegant and succinct.:)

Much appreciated. I pondered many ways to express my sentiment and conjecture while carefully crafting and conjuring an appropriate rebuttal for this thread and delved deep for the response you so carefully endorse.

I think it's worth it. As in all unofficial modifications of software or hardware, there is always risk. It's fairly easy and I am also new to the Android world. I'm sure you have already been to the Droid forum and as you can see there are numerous topics about rooting or running custom roms. Some of the advantages are...

You don't have to wait for official updates anymore. If you want 2.1 android apps, then you can have it. If you think the 550mhz processor is too slow, then overclock that sucker. If you don't like some of the pre-loaded apps then get rid of them.
