Sorry MoPho, Going to the Dark Side :(

Well after owning a Android powered device for the last 3 years, I am going to switch to the Dark Side. I'm going to Apple for my cell phone.

I've not given up on Android, just Motorola android devices at this point. This MoPho has so many quirks about it's personality, I'm just already tired of it. I hate that even after 3 Factory resets, some of the things I tried to fix were still around. I hate having the phone unresponsive (no app launches no calls) until I kill the market process.

Even after owning the Samsung Moment, I think the MoPho is the more disappointing device. I do however still have a need for a Global Phone
(otherwise I'd go back to a 3VO), so I'm sticking with Sprint and getting a iPhone 4S. I've owned plenty of apple devices before so I have an idea of what I'm getting into.

I'll keep an eye out for the next generation of Android Super phones next summer. I wont make the mistake of getting a Motorola again, I'll go back to the brand I've had the best luck with, HTC.

Thanks for your support with the MoPho Phandroid! I'll still be around the 3VO forums, as my wife has one of those.

@Busted, I wasn't really looking forward to going backward in terms of hardware capability. Of the phones on this page: Phones List , the iPhone 4S was the only one that had a Dual Core phone processor other than the Photon 4G. That was important to me as I believe it will go a long way in ensuring relevancy with all of the new apps are coming out that are so processor hungry.

@Equalizr, The Evo 3D is a truly wonderful phone. I was sad that I had to give it to my wife when I picked up my Photon. The 3D is gimmicky, but everything works SOOOO great on it (except camera in low light situation).

Oh, so you're waiting for another dual core global phone then? I thought you meant that you were going to use the 4S as a global phone when it has no sim card capabilities. Sorry to hear that though. I had a similar issue with my EVO 4G after the GB update. I absolutely loved that thing but the GB update ruined it. It would constantly freeze coming out of even the smallest apps and that sucked when I accidentally clicked the wrong app. Several factory resets later and the issue never was resolved. I probably won't own another HTC phone unless I have no other choice. Hell, I'll probably go iPhone before HTC.

No problems at all with my Photon. I've had it about a month, and love this phone. The phone updated a few times in the first few day that I had it. I guess this was to fix some of the problems that you are talking about, because I haven't had any of them.
Regarding the Moment. At least Motorola is fixing their issues. Samsung just left us all in a lurch with the Moment.

Actually, I just joined the forums to start talking about my MoPho. I noticed that people were having problems with the phone, which actually surprised me quite a bit. I'd never go from this to the iPhone. It's such a great device.

I've had mine for a week and have had zero issues, and I'm basically using the thing all day long. The only thing that has been suspect has been battery life, which this phone was supposed to be awesome at.

But even that seems to be improving a little bit daily after a week.

It's an incredible phone. I have no regrets.

Busted, actually the iPhone 4S is a global phone (CDMA + GSM). I just trimmed down my European Sim card of choice into Micro Sim format in prep for a trip to Germany.

I may try the next round of android superphones in the summer. Quadcore woo hoo.

After two months of using the Photon, I'm pretty much of the same opinion as SporkLover.

It's not that the device is unusable, but it just seems to get in the way of the user experience.

I'm going to perform a master reset using the external keys this weekend.

If that doesn't fix it, I'm rooting and installing a custom ROM.

And I'm unhappy enough with this phone that if that doesn't improve things, I'll eat the ETF and get something else - something I've never done. (Not due to just this problem, but others as well. I've already talked with Sprint about connectivity issues and they pushed out some special update to me due to work done on local towers. That helped connectivity - for about a week. Not being able to control screen sensitivity, lack of some other user controls, and battery usage are making this a very frustrating device for me.)

I've honestly not been more frustrated with a smartphone than I am with the Photon, and that's going back to using a Treo 650.
