***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I would have loved to get a SGSII 2 months ago...but then I think about it, and I'm glad I held off. Just like I wish I would have held off for the Nexus S instead of going for the Vibrant on T-Mobile. Lack of software/update support from TMO, Touchwiz is not so great, bad GPS chips in the first wave of devices ignored with no fix in sight, never getting Gingerbread, carrier releases an updated model less than 6 months after and EOL's the Vibrant shortly after that, etc.

Don't get me wrong, the GSII is a very nice device. But if you don't want any of that crap, the Nexus is where it's at. And also, I would not be surprised if some of the US models get the cold shoulder from the carrier when it comes time for the ICS update (ahem, T-Mobile)

Exactly. SGSII can suck an egg for all I care. Yes, the hardware is nice, but software support from Samsung is non existant. Updates take forever, if they even come at all, and bugs are hardly every fixed properly. That also goes for the SGSII HD, Note, SGSIII or anything else thy put out.

Sorry to be harsh, but I'll never buy a Samsung supported phone again, until they have years of improvements in thier track record. But the GNex, while made by Samsung, is Google supported. That, is what I'm looking for.

You guys are too much. You remind me of the fair-weather fans at the bar last night watching the game. We get down late and half the bar leaves angry and wouldn't you know... the Ravens march down the field and end up winning in the last few seconds of the game.

If you jump ship and get the Razr or Rezound then you never really wanted the Nexus in the 1st place. You just wanted a new phone. The Nexus offers something specific and unique and if your not willing to wait a few weeks for it then you just wanted a flashy new phone.

This phone isn't the Thunderbolt or Bionic launch... we might have to wait a few extra weeks for everything to fall into place but there are a lot of moving parts to get right. Verizon has 3 major phones coming out soon, they have to get the timing right, They have to wait for Google and Sammy to iron most of the kinks out, rumors of production delays....

Theres nothing short of a complete cancellation of the phone that would make me change my mind. I'm on my 3rd Thunderbolt and this one keeps resetting itself every few hours and messing with my alarms but I'd still rock this thing an extra month if I had to just to wait for the Nexus.

Nope, not yet. I'm mulling giving her a call during lunch, but my wife says not to. :p

Technically if we don't hear anything then you wouldn't be texting her about that so ......

Wow, I didn't even notice, congrats zx on 23k

I didn't notice we were that close either.

Yes, AT&T has LTE in Chicago now. Other LTE areas for them include Athens, GA; Baltimore, Boston, D.C.; Atlanta, Dallas-Forth Worth, Houston, and San Antonio.

Skyrocket specs:

1.5GHz dual-core processor;
4.5 Super AMOLED Plus display with 800 x 480 resolution;
LTE;
1GB RAM;
16GB storage (expandable to 32GB with microSD card);
8-megapixel camera;
1080p video capture;
NFC;
1850mAh battery
$249.99.

Not perfect; it's basically an SGSII with LTE. I can live with it if Verizon refuses to play ball.

Correct me if I am wrong but sgs2 and skyrocket use different processors? I thought skyrocket used an snapdragon similar to the one in tmbile one?

+1. Samsung has always had amazing hardware. But for whatever reason, they either A. Have terrible software/update support or B. Cannot push the US carriers to maintain their devices. I honestly blame T-Mobile more than Samsung...they weren't happy with the Vibrant for whatever reason, so they released the "Galaxy S 4G" 6 months later, which was nothing more than a Vibrant with a Front-Facing Camera and a HSPA+ modem. That device has gotten numerous updates and Gingerbread leaks, while nothing for us Vibrant owners who were willing to be first adopters of the Galaxy S line.

As an aside, one REALLY annoying bug with the Vibrant is that numbers HAVE to be stored either on the phone or in GMail contacts in the +1xxxxxxx format, or else you cannot send MMS messages as the stock Samsung messaging app borks up and cannot read the number. So if you are like me and like being neat, having all your numbers stored in the (xxx) xxx-xxxx format renders you unable to send them. This was a day one bug that has NEVER been fixed by Tmo/Samsung.

Ugh. I cannot wait to jump ship and get the Nexus.

Depends on what definition of 'hurt' is. :D

We don't bite
unless you like that sort of thing

I wouldn't run from something that hurt in a good way. :D

Yeah, but if you and Steven are on a hike, and a bear starts chasing you, guess who is going to get eaten?

Neither of us. I would jump on Steven's back for the piggy back ride of my life.

Theres nothing short of a complete cancellation of the phone that would make me change my mind.

Ditto. I'm all in for the duration.

I'm not a Nexus fanboi because I've never owned one. I can only speak for myself, but of course I'm a fair weather fan in the phone department! I'm not going to just eat up whatever I'm given if I don't feel it's worth my money. From what I've seen so far, ICS on Nexus is worth my money, but that's only if I can get it within a limited time frame. If this thing keeps dragging on and on, I may jump ship or I may wait until next year's higher-spec'd phones come out. There's only so much I can take. I jumped from the Bionic once I knew I was going to be disappointed, and I don't regret that.

Problem is, my OG Droid has begun freezing and randomly rebooting over the last week. I don't know how much longer I'll be able to wait.

Enjoy your ICS update as a Christmas 2012 present.....if you're lucky.

I'd be an idiot if I depended on Samsung's official updates. I've never done that with my Droid, I'm not about to start now.

FWIW, I'm fully onboard the crazy Nexus wagon. I just think that Black Friday is my limit. Not for release, mind you, just for an official announcement of a release date. If it's the day after Turkey Day and we're still going on this roller coaster waiting for a date, I'm getting off (no innuendos please).

No one has to agree with me. It's just my own feeling on the matter. I'm only prepared to take so much screwing around (no innuendos please).

I love you th, but your post hit me funny as I believe your it borders on baiting and is unfair. Folks have different reasons for wanting the SGN. Putting down other people's reasons borders on baiting. If people jump ship, it's their choice and not their fault. We have a free enterprise and that's part of the game. If VZ, Samsung or Goog doesn't come through with the sgn in a timely fashion, they are going to lose a market segment to either other fine phones or future phones.

Furthermore, and I'm going to say this as a mod, now, I want to nip this line of topic in the bud. No one is going to attack another person's motives for their decisions to either wait or bail out on the nexus. I'm going to inform the other mods of my "edict", as it were. No baiting, no judgement, no condemnation. Period. I'm flagging this to the other mods, so that they, too, will be made aware to stop this line of topic in the future.

Now, back to the fun Steven58. :)

Based on everything that we've seen in the last 48+ hours. I think that we are looking at 11/21 web only and 11/28 in store. Obviously could be wrong... but doesn't the evidence lead to that conclusion?

The good news is that we are seeing a lot of stuff. It may not be as early as we'd like... but much better than the cold, bitter silence of last week with nothing to report. And everything that we are saying points to November in one shape or another.

The glass is half full... be thirsty my friends!

If it is indeed 11/21, web only makes sense. Verizon employees are not going to want to be all hands on deck the week of Thanksgiving to launch a phone. Web only for 11/21 for those that want the phone really bad and 11/28 for those that want to see it in stores and play with it before buying.
