No you pervs, I'm not making a sex tape! I'm getting a divorce from the Thunderbolt after 9 short months. I went to the Verizon store today and saw the Razr demo they have set up. It's a very sleek phone and is a little bigger than the Thunderbolt, it's definitely lighter than the Thunderbolt and much thinner. It even felt nicer in my hand with that stupid anti-theft device stuck on the back. And then I loaded up a Youtube video in 480p on the Razr and the Thunderbolt and the Thunderbolt was put to shame. The picture was no comparison. The Razr had much more color, the Thunderbolt looked all washed by comparison. I'm still not sure if I'm getting the Razr or the Rezound, but I'm positive that the Thunderbolt's days are numbered. So much for the phone that was supposed to be the phone after my dream phone....

No sex tape? Whyyyyyyyyyyy

And you lost. You couldn't make me even remotely jealous of that ugly piece of Motorola crap they call the razr. Oh it's got a nicer screen? So does every new phone coming out and they have removable batteries.

I know what you're getting at and I agree. I saw the Droid charge in store and leaving the store with my washed out bolt screen was pretty sad. But razr? Blech. Galaxy nexus or rezound baby

So your having affairs with two different phones before your divorced from the Thunderbolt. What's next a threesome? :)

The Nexus just looks so plain, and no SD card slot?

no removable battery on the RAZR is a far bigger offense than no sd card slot on the GNex IMO. i have removed the SD card from my thunderbolt exactly 0 times in the 9 months i have had it, while i swap batteries quite frequently. to each their own though, it is nice to have 3 great choices on VZ this holiday season.

My intent isn't to make anyone jealous, my intent is to get rid of a problematic phone and in the process upgrade. I'd keep the phone if I didn't think that it would only be a matter of time before the screen goes out completely before my 2 year contract expires.

Looks are subjective thus I'm not sure why you'd think that what you find appealing is what someone else should find appealing.

Ideally, I'd take the Rezound's hardware specs, the Razr's packaging (less the fixed battery), and the Nexus' ICS (with the soft keys at the bottom gone). But out of the 3 I find the Nexus to be the least appealing. ICS isn't that big a deal to me right now and I figure HTC has a better record of upgrading their software. For now I'm leaning more towards the Rezound, but the Razr is packaged nicely. Comparing the Razr and the Thunderbolt just confirmed to me that the Thunderbolt wasn't the phone HTC touted it to be.

you've done nothing but complain since day 1, so by all means, swap phones.

You're right because as I recall the first post I made about my Thunderbolt wasn't me touting the speed of 4G or the local iPhone groupie being blown away by how much faster my phone was than his iPhone 4... Please if you intend on stalking me, keep up with ALL my posts. Don't just selectively stalk me.

The removable battery is a point of contention with me, trust me. It'll all come down to how well the dual core setup works with the phone. The Verizon rep claimed that the standby time is a claimed 14 days, which I highly doubt. To me it comes down to which item you think has a higher probability of failing. Batteries typically diminish with time, while a bad SD card can just pop up out of nowhere. Right now I rank em as follows, Rezound>Razr>Nexus, but that's subject to change once I can get more hands on time with each phone.

The way I see it, the Tbolt was mostly what it was claimed to be, when it launched. Sure, it had issues. Haven't met a new one that doesn't, especially with new technology (4GLTE) being added to it. Obviously, as tech improves, the new phones are going to outshine the old ones. It'd be quite disappointing if a phone released now, didn't overshadow something from 3/4 of a year ago. Kinda like saying "Gee, now that I see the Enzo, the F40 wasn't nearly what I expected it should've been". (for the record, I'd still take the F40...)

I've looked at the Razr, and while the specs are nice, and the phone does look good, there are just enough reasons for me personally to not switch. My Bolt has been flawless from day one, so I also don't have any underlying issues that are persuading me into switching yet. I loved my Fascinate though when I had it, and definately keeping my eye on the Nexus. But, until I have a huge reason to switch, I have no hurries. Unless something REALLY eye-popping comes out, that I just can't pass up...off the top of my head, I can't think of a feature on a phone that would make me to that. Maybe if it came with a free app that would print legal tender for me...

Bruh...don't take everything so literally. Really.

Oh totally! I may find Kim Kardashian attractive while you may think her butt's too big and jiggles entirely too much. I mean really. Is a butt supposed to make you dizzy looking at it? geeeez ;-) Of coarse looks are subjective. To me though, on this one...i just can't understand how anyone would call the razr attractive. The ugly "kevlar" on the back that looks like a skin someone put on the phone that was too small, or the hump on the end that takes away the sleekness of the biggest selling feature about it: thinness. Maybe it's one of those things i'd need to see in person, but so far: not impressed. How people can knock htc for having all their phones look alike yet every single moto phone coming out looks like a droidx/droid 2 is beyond me. Yeah. Moto really tapped the well on creativity there

And just the fact that it's motorola. Their cameras are weak and even with all that power under the hood, moto somehow ends up with a laggy ui. The bionic's lag shocked the hell out of me when i was almost ready to jump to a dual core. My bolt felt smoother. Then again, anecdotal evidence here.

engadget said:
The TI OMAP 4430 inside the Droid RAZR isn't the most cutting-edge mobile processor on the market, but its dual 1.2GHz cores should be enough to satisfy even the most demanding smartphone nerds. Gingerbread 2.3.5 and the extremely flashy don't-call-it-Blur hum along relatively smoothly. We encountered a few odd hiccups and stutters, primarily while placing and resizing widgets, but we'll chalk that up to Moto's liberal use of 3D animations. For the most part, though, transitions were smooth, navigation was speedy and apps were plenty responsive.

Relatively smoothly. I can't believe we're in the dual core era with stutters and hiccups. Anyone see any hiccups on the nexus or rezound?

Take a gander at the engadget review they put up. And the...*shudders* video sample. Moto's blah color scheme displayed in pictures and videos along with the crazy amount of noise just makes it a no go for me. They also basically said the battery was average and if you're phone has a battery thats locked in, you want a super battery. Not average.

If you're not set on nexus, rezound could be it. Improved camera, beats audio, htc's continued updates/support, sense.

Sucks you're having so many issues with your bolt. Personally, i have none aside from battery life. I'm only going nexus out of new phone envy

What's really curious is that anyone thinks the next latest/greatest phone is going to be flawless based on 5 minutes with a demo. I've had three smart phones, everyone has had some little nagging issue... which took time to show up. And everybody has had bitches and complaints about every one of them. Same thing is going to happen with the Razr...

That.. and the battery which can't be removed.

the unremovable battery is a serious deal breaker for me. i was actually excited for the Razr. while i would probably never own another moto product (locked bootloader) the razr was actually on my "list" of phone to check out. it looks great, specs are great, really nice screen, light and thin, ect....but if i cant swap batteries, i am out. i am a heavy user, so i swap batteries once a day (when i am out of the office)

while the nexus looks "plain" i acually like it. it looks different than every other phone out there. no soft buttons, curved glass, thin, the chin, and ICS. i could care less about the removable storage. 16gb internal is fine with me. i have never removed my SD card except when changing phones....and even then, i still backed it up to my PC before transfering to the new phone.

I'm just not sure I'd go back to Samsung. I love the phones, don't get me wrong. But...it's the first ICS model out for Verizon, I want the kinks worked out first before I do decide, plus...the delay in updates is just...ugh. I'm not a rooter, don't intend to be. So it'd be nice to at least get stuff relatively in a timely manner.

Time will tell though. I might pick it up and look at it and go "ooooh shiny! Must have!"

I thought the Razr was going to be locked down as well, but someone at the Razr forum confirmed that they were able to get into it. I can't say I have much experience with Motorola's camera quality, but I don't think I anticipate using my phone to take pictures that require crazy detail. I mean I remember the guy that posted about how bad the Thunderbolt's camera was because when he took a picture of a white wall, he saw a ring..."Well my collection of famous White Walls is now ruined because of these shots I took with the Bolt are just unacceptable!" Oh god I hope that's not anyone that's going to read this...ok umm as I was saying...If you're looking at upgrading to any of the new 3 phones that are coming out, you owe it to yourself to go look at the Razr if anything to see how it compares to the phone you're really going to buy. I'm still leaning heavily on the Rezound, but the Razr would be my next choice in a heartbeat and hell now Google owns Motorola Mobile so the Razr can call Google its daddy.

while i am a little worried about the kinks of a new OS, on a relatively new service, i think it will be OK...i mean google has to have coded ICS based on it having LTE since its the next biggest thing.

as for the updates....updates are going to be controlled by google this time like all the other nexus devices. this will be the first device to officially get any update to ICS. no waiting. hell, the Nexus 1 was fairly quick to get GB after the nexus S was launched. it may have even been the second phone to get it.
the galaxy nexus is one of those phone that you wont have to worry about getting updates. it is googles test device for at LEAST a year and will be at the top of the update list for at least 2 years.

True, you have ICS being worked out by Google for LTE, but what about all the app developers? I'm guessing they won't be so quick to get their apps working for ICS, especially if you paid for a download in Froyo or Gingerbread. I can see the NFL network app not working right off the bat, and a few other apps that rely on streaming video or network connectivity. Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of getting ICS first if anything so I don't have soft buttons taking up screen real estate but I don't see it as a deal breaker.
