There are 12 variations of these cute little buggers. They won't stay on shelves for long...
They are from DYZ Plastics a division of DeadZebra http://www.deadzebra.com/dyzplastic/welcome.php.
They come blind boxed, so you don't know which one you're getting...unless you buy a full set, LOL. They have names like: Darknet (my fave), Albino, CopperBot (seen below) Standard (They could have come up with a better name for our beloved green guy), Worker (Who is dressed in appropriate business attire) Reactor and more. They go on sale...soon, I hear - Run!

Oh yes! They are LIMITED EDITION collectibles so they will be in short supply and then they
will be gone. Let's see...I wonder how much a case of these critters will be... I have to have one for each mood, LOL (Plus, that is the only way I can be assured of getting the ones I really want). Too late for me to ask you to get them for me for Christmas, huh? LOL

sold out? wtf kind of sale was that

It was for a limited amount of collectibles - Series 01, direct from the manufacturer. The next series is due out in a couple of weeks at various vendors around the country. These were the first off the assembly line, I suppose.

And as to who would buy them? People who like to collect things. I'm one of those people. I like "first of breeds"... I have my original Star Tac, TimePort, Walkman (Which was called SoundAbout when it came out) etc.

When my son was little I bought him every single He-Man character, both versions of Voltron, Every Transformer including Hot Rod *and* Rodimus Prime (which I told him was a rip off because they were essentially the same, LOL) that there was. I told him to save them. He looked them up online recently and is now very sorry that he didn't save them, LOL. Cha-ching!

Its nice to look back on things from a different time and space and imagine what the time was like. The Android is a game changer and that little Green Guy represents. So, Android things will pop up on office desks, keychains etc. It won't change the world nor cure cancer...its just representative of the time and let's face it - the guy is cute.

I'm so excited I will see my android friends soon. I happen to put in a order for a case of them yesterday. At first when I check the first time they were already sold out and that was at 10am eastern time. They said to check site randomly and did around 12:30pm, I quick tried to put in order, it just so happened that it went through. I will probably be getting them in a few weeks. I feel so lucky.:D

Wow! You got the case! Is there such a thing as Android envy? LOL. That is the only way to make sure to get ones that you are really excited about. I cannot wait to get mine. I knew that they would go fast but not *that* fast! LOL. Plus, I heard that they "over sold" which was why the sale ended so soon. They had planned to reserve some for later release but they all flew.

I like that they blind box so that you have to "love" the one you get...or spring for the case. They are priced well so that you can give them as gifts to your Android loving friends too, I suppose. (I am *not* giving mine away...don't ask, LOL).

I absolutely must have a Green Guy of course and DarkNet and Worker...with that insipid red tie! :p - I have a vendor on call, ROTFLOL
Congrats xjunkiex!

Thanks! I was really suprised myself that I was able to order them, with so many others trying to order without success, I hope for everyone that wasn't able to order that they will have them available soon. I will more than likely be keeping these little buggers for myself. I especially hope that I have the green guy in the mix! might have to post sum pics whenever I get them in.;)

I was told that in Series 1, you get one of each Android per case (There are 12 different Androids with a total of 16 per case). So...The Green Guy is no doubt on his way to your house :p - And please *do* post pics when they arrive!

P.S. Their blog http://blog.dyzplastic.com/2010/02/release-robots.html says to be on the lookout for some super rare chase editions! I don't know what that means but I'm sure they will be great additions to the collection.
