Any UFC fans here?

GSP "had" a weak chin. yes silva fights people heavier but what about faster? GSP has great agility and can get inside quick to nullify Silva's strikes with quick and accurate takedowns. GSP is not going to stand there like Silva's other opponents let him hit him in the face. They need to make this fight happen. A LOT of people will be shocked.
No way......Silva would catch him.....like stated above the reach and pinpoint acc would be his demise......and also like stated above just because you havent seen anyone workout Spider on the ground doesn't mean he has no ground skill.....

Didn't say he doesn't have any ground skills. I said he was at a disadvantage. i've seen silva's pre-UFC fights. Many of them. And i've seen his ground skills. Im sure he has come along way since then but i strongly doubt he trains to handle and onslaught of GnP and furious pace which GSP works even from inside the guard. By bet is if it did make it to the ground Silva would do everything he could to get it back to the feet.

gsp shoots on silva, silva with his accuracy and timing knees gsp in the face for a knockout...

shields will probably lose, gsp says he's working his ground game but honestly has anyone ever seen gsp play into an opponents strong point? did he stand with thiago alves or dan hardy, nope, he took them to the ground and held them there for 25 minutes doing little to no damage. no way he's going to take shields to the ground and into shields strengths, he'll stay standing and jab from the outside like he did to koz. gsp just doesnt finish opponents anymore, last time he did was bj penn and that was like two and a half years ago or so.

as for silva vs jones, silva already said that wont happen.

Personally look at how Sonnen held silva down for 4.75 rounds in their fight, you don't think someone like GSP could do the same? not to mention he is also a black belt in BJJ so I doubt he would get lazy like Sonnen and get stuck in a sub.

I'm kinda pissed im going most likely miss tomorrows GSP/Shields, Aldo/Hominck, Coture/Machida fights because ill be fighting in Portland Maine, I'm hoping ill be fighting early enough I can bail and drive the 2.5 hours home to watch it at a buddys house.

Sonnen was juiced up, not to mention he still got caught, all it take its one mistake.

Anderson Silva hands down.

Especially after GSP's EXTREMELY unimpressive fight with Shields

I don't know about that one. The guy seemed genuinely concerned about not being able to see. He kept mentioning it, but the look of worry on his face. After you defend your championship you're usually pretty happy, he was blinking the eye and testing his vision rather than smiling and celebrating. I think the injury was much more serious than everyone made it seem.

I completely understand why you see it that way.
Idk, I just expected a lot more. I definitely didn't think it would go the distance.
But in the end he won and that's all that really matters.

That GSP vs. Shields fight was bullshit! Not because GSP won, he definitly won every round 10-9, but because neither fighter did anything to finish the fight @ any time... If not for some other fights on the card, and you know which ones, I would say UFC 129 was a waste of time & money.

On that note, Silva has another fight before the end of the year, it is unlikely that GSP will fight again in 2011. If both fighters remain undefeted then they have agreed to fight at a catch weight of 180 lbs.

I think Silva would win. But none of us has seen GSP that big so it's really anyone's guess... That's why this fight, barring a loss by Silva, WILL happen early 2012.

on that note, when was the last time gsp actually finished a fight lol?

The BJ fight over TWO YEARS AGO!! Or if you mean FINISH a fight (rather than 'not answering the bell'), you're looking at the Matt Serra fight where he regained the title.

Seriously, I really like GSP as a role model for the sport and he's a phenomenal athlete, but he needs to up his game. He fights to not lose, rather than to win, and seems petrified of his legacy should he lose. He just needs to look at both BJ and Randy to see that in MMA, you don't have to have an unbeaten record to be a legend.

Who would win between Anderson and GSP? That's a tough one...GSP will definitely want to take it to the ground and smother Andreson for 5 rounds, but Anderson will be looking for subs and strikes from the bottom should this happen, and he can easily finish the fight on the feet if he can stuff the takedown.

Jones would be the perfect style of fighter to match up against Anderson, as he wouldn't be afraid like it seems most of Anderson's challengers are, and he would really take the fight to him like Sonnen did, only he has the power and skill to finish it.

What does everyone think of this weekends UFC 130? I've got Rampage, Nelson, Struve, Alves and Santiago from the main card

If GSP and Anderson are to fight, who will you pick? :)
I love it! I'd pick Anderson. GSP hasn't shown me anything his last few trips out, he hasn't even made the fights interesting in any way. Every time Anderson goes out he makes the highlight reel somehow. Much more dynamic of a striker, lethal on the ground, he demoralizes his opposition.

I wouldn't say thats true. Anderson had a string of fights that were HEAVILY criticized, right up to when Sonnen dominated him for 4 and a half rounds and Silva slipped in the triangle. Anderson chooses when he does and doesn't perform. Which is a sign of both how much more advanced he is than his competition(outside of Sonnen) and his lack of desire to finish fights(not recently) and simply retain his title.

I'd honestly go with GSP in the match up. As Sonnen has proven, Silva doesn't match up well with wrestlers.

i can agree with this but the problem is if sonnen couldnt finish Silva then GSP wont for sure, domination doesn't matter Silva needs one shot and has five rounds to take it......

Thats true, and GSP doesn't have the most proven of chins. That being said, I'd still go with GSO(I think). I'm interested to see Sonnen vs Silva 2, although I don't think Sonnen deserves the rematch.

Sonnen also got popped for roids after the Silva fight. Let's not forget about that.
