Root So, Who's Going To Root?

I'm currently on a rooted HTC Incredible. Used Clockwork mod method so I'm unfamiliar with the root procedures for Moto devices. Any chance you can steer a Moto noob (but not a total noob!) in the right direction?

Thanks!

turbo,

Not sure what you mean by the "clockworkmod method." Most Incredible rooted users that I know (and I rooted my buddy's Inc as well) used unREVOked to one click root it.

Without getting into too much detail, I'd advise using Google to get ADB and the associated SDK installed. Having said that, there are one click apps that work for Bionic, D3, etc that it's been reported on DL will work here as well. To be honest, setting up ADB takes longer than the actual process.

Sorry for the confusion. Yes, unREVoked is what I used to root it; Clockwork is the Boot Recovery, but in any case, it was a pretty easy process. I'm vaguely familiar with ADB and SDK; more research will be required. I'm in no hurry to root, although I do like having a rooted phone.

With this phone in particular there might, and I emphasize the word might, be a benefit to waiting on rooting the device. It's anticipated that early next year Motorola will be pushing ICS onto this handset. Since a lot of people will likely be waiting anxiously for ICS, there may be more developer activity on the Droid Razr after the update.

Very good point, Martimus.

Just spent my first 20 minutes other than setup with the device and I'm going to wait as well. At least until Koush has CWM ready and Team Black Hat updates their app to include it, I'm standing pat. To be honest, the newest version of Blur is like a new ROM/Theme and I probably won't be bored for at least a month or two and hopefully by then, ICS will be here...

I rooted to try to get the FM Radio to work. Still in the process of hopefully getting it to work. Unlike the Bionic it doesnt come with anything FM Radio related or if it does I cant tell.

I tried using Root Explorer but I must need the permissions set right, will try adb way later. Right now I need to let it charge up some more.

I was wondering what happened to the FM radio...its there, but not enabled? Why?

I don't think you're gonna get a FM radio app to work on the Droid Razr outside of possibly a FM-like radio app from the Android Market. My reason for thinking this is that I don't think that the WiFi chip in the Droid Razr has the necessary circuitry to act as a FM radio receiver. As I recall, on the Droid X, we had to plug in the headphones to act as an antenna before using the FM radio app.

Now I could quite easily be wrong about this but that's what I'm thinking...
