Root rooting and t-mobile....

ok guys i have read this about rooting my phone from t-mobile
Rooting Your Phone: T-Mobile Disclaimer | Android Phone Fans

and i have a few questions (yes i am new and i do know the reasons why rooting is good)

1: it mentions about not recieving automatic updates... are these really neceserry?

2: are t-mob saying in this that if i cause a fault with my phone due to rooting they will not do anything, BUT if its a hardware issue rather than software they will?

3: my battery life (i feel) is terrible at the moment, i am having to charge it every night. and will sense ui still run over a new rom.

4: is a modaco rom the best to go with or are there others...

i generally use my phone for music, internet, and general phone stuff.

thankyou guys and i appreciate your help :D

and oh yeah i have a t-mobile g2 =]

So for example, if the Mytouch gets 2.1, it would be an Over The Air update, but because you have rooted your phone, you don't get that. Its not a big deal because well when you root you are believing that these other Roms out there are better than the stock Android 1.6 or 2.0 or 2.1 or whatever. Also, you can unroot and install the OTA updates when they are becoming available.

2: are t-mob saying in this that if i cause a fault with my phone due to rooting they will not do anything, BUT if its a hardware issue rather than software they will?
Not sure. I've heard a number of different things, from different sources and I'm not sure what to believe. I've heard of people trying to root and bricking, then taking it to Tmo and they replaced it. So I'm not sure what to believe. Honestly, as sad as this is, it probably depends on the salesperson at Tmobile and their knowledge on Android devices.

3: my battery life (i feel) is terrible at the moment, i am having to charge it every night. and will sense ui still run over a new rom.
I don't think that my battery life has improved. BUT that is only because I have so much fun on my phone that I'm using it all the time and trying new themes out, trying new apps, etc. But at the same time, if I don't use it so much in a day it does go for more than a day.

4: is a modaco rom the best to go with or are there others...
I would suggest CyanogenMod However, that is the only ROM I've tried, but I haven't felt the need to venture to try others because its been great to me. I would suggest that it is one of the most stable out there from what I've heard.

Hope that helps.
