first time post. been "lurking" for about a week.

im planning to get a galaxy nexus, although i may wait a few days after release for a cheaper price (well see if i have the patience for that). ive had an upgrade since july and im currently using a HTC Imagio (WM 6.5) which is literrally falling apart (my case is keeping the phone together). I did like the imagio especially since i had access to lots of medical apps (2 years ago), but this will likely be my first andriod phone. My girlfriend will also be getting the same phone i get so thats potentially two more members to the galaxy nexus club.

anyways, thanks to everyone for helping me keep updated with this phone. im pretty anxious for it to release!

also, not sure if this has been posted already, but there are more accessories (headphones, chargers, phone cases) on this site specifically for the galaxy nexus (the forum doesnt let me post links yet). im not sure if this is a legit website:

Eh, maybe. I've seen phones dropped on concrete and do fine and other times dropped a few feet onto carpet and die.

It's all about how it lands and that's what we call a stochastic process (read: totally random). Enough force from that sudden stop, at just the right point, and a phone will break, somehow. Just physics - can't escape physical law, and that energy has to go somewhere.

As for bulletproof - only documented case was the Evo. The phone took a beating, but the owner survived. ;) :) (link to Lounge thread on this posted earlier)

Personally, I think these throw-em-and-drop-em YouTubes aren't very helpful, but that's just an opinion, everyone's mileage varies on that one.

Completely off topic.

You congratulated me for working in interstitial, I think I can return the favor for stochastic. :)

Anyway, I also wanted to complain. My finance friends asked me to explain stochastic calculus (for Black-Sholes eqn), and it is horrible. So all those annoyances came back after I saw stochastic math and physics combimed.

Welcome to the site! I posted another set last night that were OEM and available on 11/18. Not sure if those on that site are really specific to the Nexus or not... but all good signs when we start seeing a lot of accessories coming out.

Im starting to think Verizon hates the Nexus for some strange reason i do not understand.

Verizon DOES hate the Nexus, for 3 reasons:

  • Nexus comes with an unencrypted bootloader. We can root it, ROM it, modify it, overclock it, and customize it to our hearts' content. Verizon prefers to lock the bootloader down to make it harder for us to do that.
  • Nexus has NO BLOATWARE (or very little of it). Verizon makes millions by pre-installing software like Netflix on phones... apps you CANNOT remove, unless you root the phone. An encrypted bootloader makes it harder to do that.
  • Nexus will get its software updates directly from Google, NOT through Verizon. Verizon will have little to no control over what Google does with this phone.

It all comes down to one word: CONTROL. And Verizon won't have it with Nexus. That's why they're going to try ramming RAZR and Rezound down our throats, even though Nexus is clearly the superior device.

Nerds:rolleyes:

I say that in a sarcastic manner and should be interpreted as flattering.

Wow, I can definitely sense excitement in the air. I think we just had to get past this whole Razr release day thing. I suddenly feel more optimistic than ever.

Yup, I really never expected anything concrete until after today. I'm still thinking Tuesday we may see some really good leaks. Just a guess. I'm uploading music to Google Music even as I type! Slow upload though.

I just don't see how a company goes WAY out of their way to get a semi-exclusive contract for a phone that they "hate". They don't care what phone you buy... just that you buy one of their phones and pay every month for one of their line.

And that one, Darejer, I cannot answer. But this will be the most epic, unlocked, unbloated phone since the OG Droid on Verizon. If it sells poorly, they will not be obligated to do this again. EVER.

Which is why it's so important for us to talk this phone up to non-techies and overwhelm Verizon with demand for Nexus. If it exceeds all sales projections, maybe - just maybe - we'll see another like it in the future.

What do you guys think of the HTC Rezound?

I think if you're a Sense lover like me, that's got a lot going for it. That said, my phone is close to the same specs but with 4.3" qHD display and a 1750 mAh battery. For that bigger, higher-res screen on the Rezound, I have reservations about its battery size.

Welcome to the forums! :)

Whoa, nice - welcome to the forums and to Android! :)

We've had some good accessory news the past few days, so I'm going to let the regulars here chime in on that.

You cats have fun here!
