shthawk, it isn't the ROM (read all the "data not working" threads here on this forum). People are having the exact same issue as you and I who have stock, never touched phones. They have been having these issues for over 6 months, before we had root or roms.

I noticed something new. Back when my 4G was working I would get 4 bars at my house, when I would turn off 4G I would get 1 bar (my house is a 3G dead zone). Now when I reboot my phone I get 4 bars but no data, when I toggle airplane mode I get 1X/3G but 1 bar, just like before. The "4G antenna" is on, but not receiving data.

I do think this is a software/driver/SIM card issue and not the hardware.
I do understand that this is not a basix rom problem and the reason I was posting my updates was so that some one who know more can try and replicate the issue. I read many places that said it was a hardware issue and usually it is a burned LTE modem which I found to be incorrect and I understand why some people can think that snce after I Odin the phone it was completely dead but then I restored my first backup via CWM and everything was back working.

I factory wiped (CWM) like 5 times, formated my SD, placed a fresh download of the basix rom and everything is working. I will stay away from airplane mode and see how long wil it work without a hitch. I hope some of this info can point to the real root of the issue and maybe we can get better roms out of it.

EDIT:
After 3 days without any problems I got my LTE baseband is "Unknown", the airplane mode was never turned on so I know that was not my issue. The only thing I did this time was turn wifi on and off via the notification bar which never made a difference in my previous attempts.
I dont know what to make of this, maybe Metro is using OTU to **** with rooted phones, I have no idea and I hope by posting whats happening with my phone maybe you guys can make sense out of it.

I have ordered a replacement phone and we will see what happens then.

Regards,
Sgt.Hawk

OK, sorry I misunderstood. The first time I restored my original backup I got 4G back as well, but now it is gone again. I saw something flash on the screen that said "update"
and now 4G is gone. I was going to take my phone back to Metro today to see how easy an exchange would be before doing a RMA back to Samsung, but I can't find my original Samsung battery. Hopefully I find it tomorrow.

the replacement phone does not have a battery. they will use your current battery. I got my replacement phone this past Wednesday and they just used the battery in my current phone (which i exchanged my extended battery for the stock battery). The extended battery does not mattery on the exchange as long as its not rooted and damaged by water and such.

This may be a dumb post-if so I apologize in advance.I lost both 4g and 1g after installing basix, and figured it was a problem with the rom-so I reinstalled from cwm backup and they both worked again.I re flashed basix and added electric sheep, and all was good for a while.I noticed they both went down after I installed juice defender,so I reflashed, etc. and everything worked fine.I then deliberately installed juice defender again, and once again got the same result.Re did all again,ie: basix + electric sheep, but have left off juice defender--been working fine all day, also anycut works perfectly too.Maybe it's just coincidence-but that has been my experience.

Before i make a new thread i figured id throw it in here, been dealing with data issues for a while (im not a fool i was an esc. agent for adv tech at sprint) seemed like a outage, no data, happened during a windstorm so i ignored it, a week or so went by and i got 1x ok thats fine w.e no 4g but ill live, but no mms? blah blah blah wiped it data restored it every thing i could think, broke down and called to see if there was an outage... none, after explaining to the tech support rep how to do there job they created a ticket which is a joke but i was too tired to fight with them..... so fooled around in my phone and noticed i have no apn settings -.-' blah blah research research found settings basically im looking for the fastest way to fix that lol, ive tried manual entry of some things ive found online but the settings dont stay. should i go back to stock or play with the xml files ive seen floating around.... im going on 2 hours of sleep in 56 hours so bare with me if this was a run on and didnt make sense in some parts.

Thats all well and good, however you are focusing on the LTE side of things, yes my LTE is unknown and i dont care about it at this time. toggling airplane mode forces 1xrtt, what i really need is the best way to fix the apn issues, i have 1xrtt and wifi if i need to do some heavy browsing, but MMS wont be fixed with out the apn. i always leave my 4g off any ways, what MORE likely happened is i played around with some thing i shouldnt and caused the 4g to go out on its own, its probably not even fryed but again i dont care about the 4g side of things, just mms at this time.

Hi i just have a question im assuming you got another replacement samsung indulge from the metro corporate store by now lol when they gave you a new phone did they take your sim card out of your damaged one and put it in the new one>because thats what im worried about i also have data issues and im not sure if its because of my sim card or not but i heard each indulge has a specific sim card designed for it...

guys i need some advice. my 4g doesn't work at all. i do see the 4g icon however the green arrow appears to be stuck or something. I don't have "Unknown" under baseband, mine shows LTE. and whenever i attempt to use the data the 4g icon shows with the green arrow and that's all no red arrow. it used to work fine. i had basix with the old modem and LTE modem and it was working fine. One morning the 4g just decided not to work at all and so i began to do all kind of stuff like resetting and cleaning cache and stuff even re installing basix and nothing improve my situation. on the second day i decided to odin my phone with the latest tar (latest modems) and i got no 4g data on the first day, i had the same problem 4g with only a green arrow. on the second day the 4g decided to work and after 4 days it has decided to stop working once again. i've odin the phone 4 times with the latest tar, i've taken the sim card out before using odin to avoid burning the card. like i said before i don't get the "unknown" under base band on LTE any other suggestions/steps to follow will be appreciated guys.

from what I've seen the 4G service for metro is spotty and doesn't work 100%, at least for the indulge. I get the "green arrow" a lot too, but usually, it'll unfuck itself eventually.

may be you are right, i stop by a store today to have my phone checked and surprisingly after a PRL update which i did back at home several times and didn't get anything newer than 3026, 4g began to work, however once i got home 4g was stuck again on green arrow. So may be it is spotty but i had 4g at home working with no problems at all for 4 days or so now its being 3 days with no 4g at all.

Sorry in advance for being a complete newb, but that's what I am. My 4g keeps dropping, I'm on basix with electric sheep, and everything was good for about a month, until I woke up yesterday morning and no 4g service. I ran down the whole op, following each step to the letter, and it will work for a while, but after leaving the phone idle for a while, when I wake it up again, the best I can get is 3g. I've eliminated service issues and hardware, because the only thing that fixes it is Odin flash with 2.2.2 and new Radios, then I can fresh install basix again and it works for a while, then reverts back to no 4g. I don't restore any backups, and it does it with no extra apps on the system. I'm gonna Odin it back to 2.2.1. And unroot the phone and see if it drops, then I'll redoubt everything one by one and leave testing time to figure out what's causing this. I won't be able to fix it, but hopefully someone here can

EDIT 1: So I'm back on stock 2.2.1, with the newest radios, and it's been 2 hrs with perfect 4g service. I'm thinking about rooting it, and seeing where that goes. I will track this problem down.

EDIT 2: Used AIO Root and an hour later, still have 4g. Usually it would drop within 15 minutes. Now I need an opinion. Should I install Basix or Electric Sheep first? Sorry for the dumb question, but I really am a complete noob

4g is very tricky on the indulge may be there was a 4g outage. Most people will confirm better results with 2.2.2 since it flashes new modems to the phone. However results will vary and that depends on metropcs 4g layout. 2.2.1 is buggy and drains battery way too fast, try a few more flashes with 2.2.2 it fixes battery problems otherwise re try basix since its better on the phone than stock 2.2.1

Ive tried reflashing with 2.2.2 and basix many many times. I'm on 2.2.1 with the newest radios, and I'm encountering the same problem. It seems as though the phone is forgetting the Lte radio firmware, but if i reflash just the new radios, it doesn't work. If anyone can throw me a tar with the previous Radios, id like to flash them and see what comes out of it. I'm really getting tired of having to odin the phone twice a day for 4g to work. I've tried literally everything I can think of, and nothing is doing the trick
