I hope in the future disputes can be resolved more effectively than the admin versus numus altercation was. While I believe that the anonymity of the Internet often makes people more belligerent than they might otherwise be, I would wish we could all get along. Now we have a shiny, happy forum that will be missing its most important information.

Wow, you guys are really mad that he's gone. Why not just use the SDX site for all your Moment modding needs? At least until someone else comes along on this site, or he calms down a bit.

We've all been known to get tired of constantly repeating threads, but it's no reason to go crazy. (I didn't see the offending post/thread, so I'm not sure of the exact details).

i have no idea what happened, perhaps i'm saying this out of ignorance and i hope i dont get an infaction, but i wish everybody could get along?!

i dont think ive ever seen a legit reason for a personal attack...not even for "retaliation" or "revenge"

we all have the same goal, getting the most out of our cell phones. the more help we have the better...i hope we can all stay friends and continue working together!!

Not me. I would like to be able to consume all my android curiosities at the same place, but abrasive personalities and trigger-happy admins make it impossible to do so. In the words of Mick Jagger, "Why are we fighting?"

There has been a recent spate of forum posters:

a) Having a very short and unnecessarily harsh tempers with newer members
b) Petty arguments taking over threads and making them worthless.

This is the reason for this thread, which I recommend everyone read. One of the ways we are trying to counteract these problems is by issuing official warnings, or "infractions". There are just our way of say "please don't do it again".

We are not discriminating in any way when these warnings are issued. If you break the forum rules you will receive an infraction. Some people appear to be taking offence to receiving these infractions, which is unfortunate, but if we are going to make this forum a place people want to visit and come back to, then we need to stop the arguing, stop the name calling and welcome newcomers with open arms.

I came to the Android Samsung Moment from the Palm Pre. One of the things that soured me on the Pre (besides the “Toy Box” App library and lack of standard features in WebOS) was the ******* I found frequenting the Pre Central message board.

I have found Android Forums refreshingly free from these ******, and would like to see it stay that way. Kudos to the Mods who work hard to keep it that way.

Anonymity is a helluva drug. If ALL involved can keep their egos in check, the community will thrive.

I've been the Admin for an online community with over 3000 members for 4+ years and this situation is LOL-worthy. Both the Mods and members in question need to grow thicker skins and realize what is best for the whole group. A lot can be accomplished BEHIND CLOSED DOORS if there are differences of opinion. A PM here, a quick diplomatically worded email there, etc.

Now you boys shake hands and play nice.

Reported posts and infractions are delivered via private message. If the users wish to post about them, we cannot stop them

If the users wish to post about them, the Mods don't necessarily need to reply in public. I feel Mods are in a position to Lead by Example. It's tough to hold one's tongue sometimes; believe me, I can empathize with your position. But by not feeding into an already negative situation, trolling/flame wars/arguments can be kept to a minimum (hopefully). numus has a lot to offer this place but he needs to understand that he is not "above" anyone else.

Hopefully you two can find a middle ground. You'd be setting an example for the rest of us to follow if you both could put this squabble behind you and move forward. This is an exciting time for Moment owners/Android users...we NEED you guys to work together. :)

Screw that.. There isn't one thing android forums offers that actually helps me or the dev community.. i was here as a courtesy to try to offer basic support... Basically this forum has been an all give and no take for me, but i still tried.. after this crap, screw that..
P.s. just on here making sure the dns block works

I'm sorry you feel that way, numus. What this forum offers you is a stage in which to show what you and your crew of devs are capable of. If you play your cards right around here you could be growing an ARMY of sdx followers.

What you need to understand is as the Moment grows in popularity, more and more people will be coming here to learn about the technology. If you can practice a little patience when a new guy asks a question that's been answered 20 times already, you'll be golden. Let one of your soldiers answer for you instead of getting bent out of shape...you've got bigger fish to fry.

You could be The Man on this forum but you've gotta keep your ego in check.

This sucks... most of this site and the people that are here wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Zefie/ numus and the SDX gang.. yeah.. numus gets frustrated and vents a little.. I don't have anything to do with SDX or this forum except getting as much knowledge from it as I can and I get frustrated sometimes with the multiple posts. There are many ways to search for topics in order to try and not repeat yourself. There are just people that don't take the time to read the rules, tips, change logs, etc... and just start posting away. Read more and post less... most all the info you need is already here unless it's a problem caused by a new update. I seriously hope that the SDX Developers (numus) and the forum here can start to work together again.

As a previous guide who simply was on here enough to be effective Mods and Guides have a role to lead by example. Along with that though is the responsibility of members to know they can't abuse the forums and respect the fact the technologically impaired people want the new hot of the press info about their new phone. I will be sad to see Numus not actively posting on here if that should be the case. He and the other developers and testers visit both sites for info and to share new info and help other supporters of the forum. I simply hope that as referenced above that everyone on Anroidforums tries to respect the posted behavior expectations. This is by far one of the better forums I am part of across all the forums I participate in including cars and hobbies and phones, etc.

definitely agree.

considering none / very little of the mods (i think there might be one) on here own a moment... or probably care about us... i have a feeling that we're not going to get much love or support or help on here...

Truth.
Mods have "god power" and often over use it.
I am not directly associated with the post/thread that caused this, but I can tell you all my interactions with Zefie and Numus have been good.

I tend to get frustrated when people post a dozen threads for the same question, and, when people fail to even TRY search first...

Whatever the issue, I'll continue to support Zefie and Numus because they're doing good and enhancing the tool I have paid good money for (my Moment...)

Wow, this is getting crazy.

Listen. First off, none of the mods here have a god-power complex. There have been a couple in the past that have, and they were removed. The mods enforce the rules we set and when they aren't sure what to do they ask.

I do feel we have a good team of mods at the moment. But I don't follow each one of them around either. If you really feel someone is god-power-happy, let me know and we'll look into it.

As for 'trigger happy' comment. You would be amazed how much slides around here, and how much we've *let* slide before taking action.

So someone got a fingerlashing. Happens. I'm sorry that sometimes the decisions made aren't in favor of everyone involved. They rarely are. It's just the way it is.

Read the rules thread. The #1 thing is to respect the people around you. Don't crap on new people, or stupid questions, or repeat threads, or people you don't like. That kinda stuff. Thems the rules. We've invited everyone with an Android device here - not just the elite.

There is no "admin vs numus" thing going on. He got one infraction by me a 9 days ago. And before giving that I looked at his post history to help me decide if I should. I should've. And did.

Then a week later he got another from a mod for a now-removed post. Now, looking at the rules thread - then looking at his post history - I would think the mere 2 infractions he got would be the exact opposite of 'trigger happy' and 'af vs numus'. He should have plenty more.

He has chose to leave over this. He chose to leave for being treated the same way we try to treat everyone.

I stand by the infractions given. Just because someone is helpful most the time, doesn't give them a right to be so harsh to members the rest of the time. They're really not that big of a deal, I don't understand why it's come to something this freaking crazy. We give FAR less infractions around here than we should. It's really not that difficult. Respect the community members. Be constructive when you post when someone is asking for your help. Don't start fights, and don't get drawn into fights.

(And yes, it's a shame this whole thing has gone public. We do much behind the scenes. But sometimes we do post on the thread. This is so other people see what gets you infractions. So people know where the line is.)

Anyway. Believe it or not we DO hope the couple upset members we have right now choose to stay and continue to be a part of the community. But in doing so, abide by the rules they agreed to when they signed up and not get all bent out of shape when their wrist is slapped when they don't.
(As for the whole "most of this site and the people that are here wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Zefie/ numus and the SDX gang.." Well that's either:

1) Just plain crazy. I assure you we were fine before said group, and will be fine after.
2) Showing how serious we are about being being civil to people around you.

or

3) Both.

I'll give you a hint, if it's not 1, it's 3.)

Yes, I'm closing the thread. Feel free to consider it me getting the last word in and then ruining it for anyone else to reply to me if you like - I don't mind.

If you have more feedback for me, feel free to PM. Thanks.
