Ok... I'm back... Get used to it! ;) lol I keed...

Couldn't stand the BB anymore, and with the updated 2.1 with pinch-zoom, Google's stepping in for phone support, and just missing the Nexus... I'm back in action...

Got my new Nexus earlier today via Fedex... Plugged it in... Full charge before even using it (something I didn't do last time - whether it set the tone for the battery issues I had with unit #1, I'll never know... but whatever...)

Already ordered a 1600mAh Seidio battery (10% off btw - LOVE2010 code)...

As soon as it got done charging, I did the update... Phew - no issues... updated with any issues. 2.1-update1. Yes!

So the Nexus is just sitting there... and the COOLEST thing happened.... ALL my old apps updated, all my settings (even my WiFi WEP key)... I didn't have to reconfigure a SINGLE thing!!!! No I'm truly impressed!!!!!!!!! :D

Now that is nifty, all it needs to do is save the messages and bookmarks, there'd be no need for any backup app.

Oh how I missed thee, Nexus One... :p

I don't know if I'm imagining things... but the update seems to have fixed the home button issue... where you had to hit them 'high' before... now the respond in the center... as you'd expect! ... god I've been 'gone' too long! ;) lol

Man this thing ROCKS!!!! :D I was getting used to the BB, but oh my god how slow that thing was in comparison... the Nexus is BLISTERING!!!!! :p

it's GOOD to be back!! lol ;)

Mine arrived today. Its amazing. Have not put it down since I booted it up. Advice from this site made me buy it and I'm glad I did : -)

Just like me you weren't swayed by the negative comments, glad you're enjoying it! I was worried about them but am pleased to report I suffer from no major flaws apart from a spec of dust which is only visible in direct sunlight. I'm not outside much...! :D

I read loads of your posts oniongirl, I'm loving the voice search, its just so fast. There will always be negative comments but I love mine. My hero is now on eBay LOL.

Ooh, famous. Awesome. Hope my posts were balanced enough for you. I would have this phone's babies (if this were possible, I bet some bigot would make a law against it, god damn), but that doesn't stop me being aware of its faults.

Namely... IT HAS NONE, I TELL THEE.

Yes, when the google maps crew comes by for new pictures, they'll have my WEP key for my wireless router, and they'll take the 4 bucks out of my bank account.

Pmsl! Don't give them ideas, please! I am really suspicious of Google's motives, all the time. They will know everything in the not-too-distant future. We use them for everything now... searching, email, browsing, social networking (with the new Buzz), texting, calling, maps, photos, etc.

So this means they know what we're doing, when we're doing it, who we're doing it with, what webpages we visited whilst we were there, who we called and what we talked about, even what we read whilst there (if they manage to get the out of copyright ebooks available, I haven't read up on that situation for a bit). They'll also have everything that's on our computer with Chrome OS.

I could go on, but I've just realised I can't remember how I convinced myself this was all fine and I should buy an Android phone anyway... ahhh....

Congrats! I purchased the 1600 mah battery myself and I notice big time improvements after 5-6 charges. I went from 8am until 1am with 40% left!

that is awesome! i'm hoping for similar results!

so far today, I'm doing well on battery life (first full day of use)... after 5hrs + i'm still at 73%.... (and i've got GPS and WiFi both running, streamed a bit of Pandora and watched a bit of video...)

with my first Nexus, I'd be at about 40% by now...

so far, the new Nexus is proving to be much better battery-wise, more proof my original one had something wrong with it...

Dude that's really good!

Btw, how did all your apps and stuff get backed up? Did they take all the info off your old phone and transferred it to your new one?

I don't think it backed the files per say, but i'm thinking "the cloud" took inventory of what apps i had installed and just downloaded all of them back... including paid ones... probably just takes a "disc image" of the phone... i dunno... i just know it worked rather well... the only thing I had to do really was some apps, I needed to hit the "agree" button again... and my email accounts needed to be re-added... everything else, settings, etc, even wallpaper, got restored... (keep in mind, it's the same SD card as I had before too)...

quite amazing really... convenient to say the least... especially even just using gmail to manage my contacts... they had all transfered to the BB i was using, and now back on the Nexus... the beauty of cloud computing... :D

For the truly paranoid, it IS possible to use this device without syncing it to google's cloud. Obviously, you lose a lot of the functionality that you are thus used to, but it's worth it to those who don't wish to sell their souls to google.
