***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Although I appreciate the accessory leak, no dock for me. Ill stick to my usual light case, screen protector, and car charger combo. Actually, Im hoping that the MHL cable comes included in the box as it does with some other phones like the Samsung Infuse. Otherwise, I'll probably be buying that as well.

Although I have to admit, I like the idea of a nice silk pouch or bag for the phone. If I can find a nice one that will the fit the phone and fit nicely in my pocket, I may bypass the case, and quite possibly the screen protector.

Either way, I NEED THIS PHONE NOW!!

They aren't silk, but check out Sena. They make whisper thin leather pouches for phones. I use one for my Dinc and I plan getting one for my Nexus.

once Google releases the source code for ICS, we're still weeks away from other devices getting it (at least "officially"). of course, once dev'rs get their hands on the source code, they could start building ICS roms for other devices. so, technically, i guess other devices could get ICS before the Nexus.

and, just because the source is being released, that doesn't necessarily mean the Nexus is coming immediately after. there still could be issues with getting ICS to work properly with the Sammy hardware.

Not to mention it's going to be murder trying to get ICS roms on devices like the RAZR or HTC device because they're both locked down.

If the GNex doesn't come out before the end of the year, I doubt any of us on Verizon will have a pure ICS experience until next year.

Here's hoping the Windsock stays true to form.

Put your money down folks..you can relax. The nexus won't be here soon. Start planning for end of year purchases. That is the new word on the street.

Word on the street?

I just asked a guy on the street about a release date for the Nexus and he said:

Why did you knock me down in the middle of the street?!?!? What are you, crazy woman?!?

Which you will notice is exactly 17 words, so............

Seriously though, word on the street has always been another way of saying rumor mill. If it really is delayed it is amazing that he is the only one to of heard about it. Either way, I'll be waiting.

I don't think this is possible - I think that they can do it on AT&T or T-MO but I'm not as well versed in the network capabilities as the others around here are.

Correct.

Source code is being released the 17th. Understanding it, modifying the kernel and drivers plus anything else you want to do to it to make it work with a particular handset - not an instantaneous process.

The fastest that a phone has gone from source code release to the AOSP repository to a carrier update for a non-Nexus phone has been 6 weeks.

Add in holidays and all the other variables - and expect to see independent devs upping their alpha releases without everything working pretty quickly.

But everything working? One to three months after the 17th, typically.

now claiming "no chance" of a Nov. release:

i may end up getting the RAZR from Price Club and have the 90 day return available...

I say that there is NO reason to worry about this!!! If you guys remember, Panda was flaming people who "talk smack" about the windsock...I would imagine he was talking to people in this forum. So his revenge is to get everyone in here all fired up and stressed out over his tweet. He's screwing with you guys. Pay him no attention!!!

There is a cutoff date in my mind. If this phone is not released by the end of this month, I'm seriously probably going to get another Droid battery because battery life is the only thing killing me right now with this phone, and just wait and see what comes next year. I've waited a month for this phone already since it's announced date and I can wait a little longer if it's going to be another 2+ weeks anyway. I've done the math and it's cheaper for us to be with AT&T because all of our friends and family are with AT&T...I might jump ship for the Galaxy SII just out of spite for Verizon mishandling the release of this phone so badly.

There's a cutoff in my mind too - December 31st. While I hope like hell it's not that late the Verizon release said 'by the end of the year'. Yes, it would suck
big, hairy, mud splattered, grass stained, dingleberry holding moose balls
to wait that long but I wasn't this excited for my DInc and I want to wait it out.

Who votes for a Love Tunnel PM?

I DO I DO!!!

I just think the Rezound is one of the ugliest (and fattest) phones I've ever seen otherwise I would seriously consider staying with HTC and grabbing that bad boy today.

+1

I would buy the Rezound today if it wasn't for 1) Galaxy Nexus 2) the ridiculousness thickness of the phone, the reason I passed on the Thunderbolt.

I am a huge HTC fan, love their Sense UI, but I need less in my pocket, not more. I love my Dinc, thin and powerful.

I took a look at one today in the store and it was actually much more comfortable than the RAZR IMO. Yes it's thick, but not that thick.

Mik Mik already unlocked the bootloader for the Rezound and if you don't like the community method, go to HTCdev.com for the magic beans soon enough.

TeamAndIRC already has it rooted and RootWiki is already preparing to publish a ROM for it (download available).

Getting things on an HTC -> not murder.

Several code misdemeanors are usually committed in the course of getting things past the Verizon configurations, tho. ;)

The next easiest thing to break into besides a Nexus is a Samsung, followed by an HTC (last two used to be switched, but still). Motorola I make no promises.

Agreed but I would probably get the Razr over the Rezound due to its thinness.

Cmon Nexus!

When's the last time Verizon launched 2 flagship phones (RAZR and Rezound) in one week?

Good point. This is definitely the first time Verizon has released 2 android flagships this close together.

The Droid X was about a month or 2 after the Incredible.

And while 2011 has been a disaster - they really made up for it at the end!

Word on the street?
I just asked a guy on the street about a release date for the Nexus and he said:

I just tried getting the word on the street also. The guy honked his horn at me and told me to get out of the way. My mom always told me not to play in the streets so I am kind of new at it. :D

Helped a Director at work get his Exchange account on his new Iphone. He looks so happy with his palms around it....Im jealous...

I hope to be this happy some day :)

Oh yeh, I am making everyone around me miserable too about this phone. So you know, the company i work for is dropping the corporate phone plan with t-mobile. Everyone who uses a corp phone will get a $50 credit on their check. Also, Verizon is giving us a nice discount off the monthly bill for everyone that signs up for them.

The date they are dropping tmobile is Dec. 1st.

Everyone knows I am waiting for this darn phone and really need it before the date.

Looks like there may be a possibility of getting the razr until the gnex. :(
