Help cracked nexus one glass

you should find out if there is a local iphone repair place, as they often do other phones. There are a couple stores near me where you take your phone in and they fix it while you wait. I think a new screen is about $150.

i dont cracked the screen but only the glass, the touchscreen work and don't have any other problem or damage.

Tomorrow i call the HTC in italy.

On cnn.cn i find only the trackball and battery charger.

My friend drop his.
The worst thing is that it happened TWO weeks ago, and HTC has't send him a shipping label yet so he can send it for repairs,

Hello Manuel

Sorry, we do not have the digitizer for the Nexus One yet. We are currently trying to source it and should have it shortly.

Hi, adamlovesyou/anotherfandroid, is that you?

Unfortunately, no, this is YET ANOTHER report of a broken screen on the nexus one...

Excuse the grimey bathroom mirrors for the trick I used to get it to take a picture of itself...

HTC opted to use some flimsy ass glass on a $500 piece of hardware, and its really unfortunate because it makes the hardware unreliable for rugged individuals.

No touchscreen out there will safely survive a drop of "a few feet".

If you're accident prone, then a touchscreen isnt for you.

I would agree with this point, but as it stands the possible screen issue might be the one thing holding me back from ordering the nexus one right now. I am very careful with my phones, but my concern is about the durability under normal use (phone in trouser pocket without protective case etc). I would rather not pay $500+ for a phone only to be stung with another hefty bill for a replacement screen in a few months.

I think I am going to wait another month or so to see if the number of reports increase, or if there are just a vocal minority of users with screen issues. This will also give me the opportunity to consider some of the newly announced HTC android phones.

It's a touch screen thing, no brand or model is immune from cracked screens where they've been dropped.

Do a search on google for [chosen touchscreen phone] cracked screen and see how many hits you get. There are over 5 milion hits for iphone ;)

Sister in-law is on her 3rd iphone for dropping, bashing in handbag, and dropping down the loo.
