5.7 update, webtop mod and stock SOLVED

I spent a good portion of last night trying to figure out why I could not get my webtop (hacked/mod) working on my latest 5.7 update. I noticed that in settings:status it listed version as "unavailable" for the webtop.

I had gotten to the latest 5.7 via the incremental upgrade path - the direct one would not work.

Here is what I figured out... I am not a developed and just an enthusiast. Hopefully this will help someone else. Also, I read this "fix" elsewhere but found the writing so dense that I had to figure it out for myself before I could go back and understand what was being said. However, I am not taking credit at all for this as it was explained elsewhere first.

1. Running the stock, root, forever root program does not revert you to 100% stock. The mods you installed (e.g. webtop mode) made changes outside of "system" that will cripple future updates and how they work with your phone.

2. To get back to true stock I recommend as follows: download the moto-flash app and the system/grfs.img files (links to follow). This will require some command line typing (e.g. Windows, START: Run: "cmd")

3. Flash the webtop and system using command lines; then run the stock, root, forever root method.

4. Then update directly to 5.7 (not incremental).

5. Then apply webtop hack. Hold on to #2 steps and programs... this will be your future fix needed to install OTAs, future updates, etc. This is now my understanding of going back to true stock.

6. Note that the the command line flash program only worked on my Win 7 tower - not my Win 7 netbook. I think the netbook did not have enough RAM and it appears to not have access to virtual memory. Not sure about this but I needed to run it off the tower and I think this is why.

HOPE THIS HELPS. EVERYTHING WORKS.... WEBTOP, ROOT, TETHER HACKS, ETC. RUNS LIKE GREASES LIGHTNING WITH GREAT RADIO, ETC.

Can you please link me the url to how to apply/patch the webtop mod?
