[Solved] Rebooting Issues

I got my Rezound today. I immediately put it on the charger without turning it on so it could be charged when I got it home. Several times while it was charging, I noticed that it turned itself on. I didn't think too much about it and turned it off each time.

When I got home from work, I started to set it up, I ran into many problems setting it up as it rebooted itself repeatedly as I tried to complete the 7 setup screens (starting with picking the language). At one point, it completely went dark with my only option to remove the battery and turn it on again.

I really feel that I have a bad device, but wanted to see if anyone else had the same issues. I do tech support for my company, so I am not a technology newb.

Anyone else experiencing these issues?

Sounds like the issue they had with the Thunderbolt. Were you able to get further into the phone? See if there's an update out there. A few months ago there was a GB version that was causing reboots for the Thunderbolt.

I am able to get into the phone... When I select Check New in software update, I get this error message "Application HtcDm (in process com redbend.vdmc) is not responding".

I think I may have received a lemon. Not really looking forward to going to Verizon and dealing with this.

I haven't seen anyone post about this issue and I know I don't have it. Off the top of my head I would say you got a bad phone. Was the phone still plugged up when you started doing your setup? Just curious if it may have been a faulty charger if it's not the phone.

I didn't even take the charger out of my box yet, it is the one I have been using for my Incredible for over a year now, so I don't think it is the charger...

I researched and some posts are indicating it has something to do with the activation process.

HTC Diagnostic Mode is what I'm seeing DM stands for. I'd wipe the phone and start from scratch. Better now than a few months from now to see if that fixes it. Although my first reaction is to let Verizon have it back, and they'll put it in their list of refurbed phones and knowing my luck that's the phone I'll get in a few months when this thing starts acting up.... sigh....

It's still so early in the launch you never know it might not be that bad. You may be able to get an immediate replacement under the circumstances but did you happen to get insurance with the phone?

I did get insurance.. I have had the phone for less than 6 hours, so hopefully VZW will help me out.

I tried to make a call and it didn't connect, when I tried to hang it up it wouldn't allow me to. My only option was to remove the battery. This thing is going back right now. I will update later. Thanks for the help guys.

Did the activation go smoothly? You know you don't go through *228 right?

I didn't do *228.

The thing that worries me, is the phone was having issues way before I even activated it.

I actually took a video of it freezing up. I am going to take it in and show VZW, so hopefully they don't drag their feet.

It is currently frozen and has been that way for 5 minutes trying to install my gmail account.

I'd do a full wipe and start all over (mostly because I'm curious to see what build version you've got installed, to see if it's a build/version issue). Otherwise, I'd just go ahead and take it back.

OK, I took the phone back. VZW was really good about returning the phone. I got a decent rep who actually knew all about the phone.

I set up my new phone without any issues and know for sure I had a bad device.

NightAngel or another Mod, can you please delete this thread? I don't want anyone to read the title and be discouraged from buying this amazing phone. WOW, it is a great device. Thanks to everyone who gave me help!

I'd rather the mods leave it up just in the event that we get more phones with the same symptoms. Just my opinion though, granted I'm sure the trolls on other mobile phone sections will be all like, "Look they're already having problems!"

True, maybe they should just re-name the thread? I agree, I don't wan't rumors to fly, I am very happy with this phone so far.
