CyanogenMod Vs Checkrom 3.1.1

CheckROM wins hands down for me.

To be honest MrBaker22, the only way is for you to try it yourself and to see if it suits your needs and desires.

I would urge you to carefully and thoroughly read the installation instructions, FAQ's and Known Issues, here:-

[NIGHTLY][ROM][GWK74] CyanogenMod 7 (w/ Gingerbread 2.3.7) for Galaxy SII Q&A - xda-developers

Stable, as it implies, is thought to be the latest and most stable version thus far and might be a good starting point for you.

Nightly's are experimental and testing versions with all the risks that comes with them.

If your going with CM i'd go for nightly because IIRC the "stable" RC1 release was renamed without the "stable" due to some issues. The nightly rom is likley to be more stable as it has been updated many times since the RC1 was released.

CyanogenMod is a whole different ball game compared to Samsung, or indeed any other manufacturers, stock set up.

The basics are that CM is the same base for all 40 or so phones that they cover with individual tweaks to each model to improve its usability.

after much deliberation and playing today, i think ill go back to Checkrom 3.1.1 cyanogenmod is nice but it seems to eat my battery.... and ive had a few force closes on things...

yup... theres no task manager icon in my app drawer either.... usually when you hold the home key you get the bar at the bottom to select task manager thats dissappeared....

with CM u dont really need task managers.. also u can always download a free task manager frm market and assign it to the menu key.. the home long press can also be customized to show around 15 recent apps or lauch a custom app.. ive been using CM for a long time now and ive tried to go back to samsung based custom ROMs but for sum reason the tweaks, smoothness and battery life have made me come back to CM.. (im guessing the only ROM that ive tried wiv the best battery life was the litening ROM.. but im a flashaholic now so i need to flash almost everyday :p)

i know CM still has its issues, but ive bcum sooo used to it and the themes available for it tht i cant go back to custom ROMs :$

Did the Galaxy S use Touch wiz or Froyo for its interface? I seem to remember it not having the Task manager on the home menu either.
