Root Which ROM to use?

MIUI has its own built in theme engine that allows you to theme literally everything anyway you want to. From the lockscreen to the launcher to the system font, and everything in between. It's definitely worth a look if you're wanting to theme.

CM7 has themes upon themes as well, but not built in so you will have to search and download seperately. There is a theme chooser to switch between them easily though.

I think it just comes down to preference between the two as far as which one to use. I tried both if them out when I first rooted and decided I like CM7 better just for the stock android feel. I would suggest trying both out for a few days and see which you prefer.

Is there a need to re-format your SD card? I would like to just re flash a new rom, with out customizing all my home screns again (putting new prorgams on etc. etc.)

You don't need to format your SD, your music pictures and other files will all still be there.

You do need to wipe data, cache and dalvik, when flashing a new ROM. Every ROM flash will require you to set up your home screens and settings again in the new ROM. You will also have to re install all your apps, titianium backup is a good tool for that.

If your flashing a new version of the same ROM, sometimes you won't have to wipe and can keep all your settings and screens and apps. Some ROMs have options for saving backups of you screens and settings to re-install if you ever have to wipe data.

Well I used CM7 for about 5 days. I liked how much smoother the ROM ran than the stock ROM. However, I just was not able to customize it the way I would like to be able to. I do like how it as ADW built into it so you can choose what icons you want to use for different apps.

So, I downloaded Miui ROM Monday. This is a very nice ROM was well. I think it runs even smoother that CM7. I also like how easy and how many different ways you can customize it. However, it does not have ADW built into it so you can't (at least i haven't found out a way) to customize your icons. The lack of an app drawer does take some getting used to.

i think I'll stick with the Miui ROM for a while.

You do know that you can download any launcher including ADW launcher from the market and use in any ROM right?
ADW is built into CM7 but I use launcher pro since that is my preference.
