No way it is that big.....

Everyone try clearing your cache and see if that helps, also App2SD has a cache cleaner built in... if you want to free more space clear data on some apps maybe??

I was being sarcastic, due to the "low space" error I'm constantly getting.

But I did all that, deleted about ten apps, & if I don't get it tonight I'm thinking I will just factory reset the thing & go from there.

Low on space error went away when i uninstalled the Adobe Flash updates and then reinstalled. Have been fine since yesterday but now getting the error on the new update but that merely won't install

Just went back and forth on Twitter with @VZWsupport for over an hour... after telling me a bunch of stuff I've already tried, they said:
"Okay. The only other thing that I can think of is factory reset> retry. Could you try to do that and let us know results?"

This is a pretty poor solution. I'm very displeased. Guess I'll give it a try tonight. Do you guys have a recommended app for backing up my data (games, photos, etc.)?

So, im rooted (with unrevoked) but everything else is stock aside from removing the apps i didnt want on my phone.

I had the update notification a few times yesterday but kept telling it later, and now it seems to have just disappeared.

If it comes back, can i just accept the update and then re-root somehow, or do i need to do any other prep before?

I got the update notification yesterday morning. When I select update, it started to countdown to be restart but nothing happened and it didn't restart. I manually restarted my phone and now the update notication is gone. I went to settings -> about phone -> system update, and it says that my phone is currently up to date but it's still showing that my phone has android 2.2.

Is there a way to get the update again?

Ok folks. If you are getting low space, you should clean cache and wait. I wouldn't do a factory reset. Wait for the phone to try again. Do not use date trick. Do not go crazy deleting anything.

Please don't post you got low space. Post if a fix worked or if you have 4.08.605.2 working.

Do not bother to call HTC or VZW yet. Check here, you will get an answer here quicker.

This Gingerbread update is buggy as heck. My app drawer stays open after launching an app. My lock screen freezes so I can't slide it down half the time. When I toggle my GPS on, the GPS icon in the notification tray does not turn on, but the GPS widget is on. And it deleted half a dozen apps.

I got the second update this morning also, but couldn't install because it said not enough space and prompted me to delete apps to make room.

If I do a factory reset to get rid of the 'cobwebs' of this Gingerbread update, will it take me back to Froyo?

If you get the 4.08.605.2 not 4.06.605.3. Please post right away.

Will be interesting when the fix hits

Looks.like Verizon has.pushed the old one in a mass push instaed of a rollout

Would be interesting to find.out who.doesn't have gb ( not root) and when new version hits.

Tues AM I got the 4.06.605.3 and updated it successfully. Well had SD card issues.
Wed AM I got the 4.08.605.2 and updated and failed. It said not enough storage room to update.

I did a factory reset after the first update due to the low memory mesage I was receiving. Factory reset went well. I reinstalled my apps from Android market. This morning I received the message for the second update. That loaded in no time. My dinc have never worked so well.

How much room do you have on your phone storage, SD Storage, and cache? This will give us an idea of how much room we need to free up to guarantee a smooth installation.

What is the significance of the second update that was pushed to all of us this morning? Someone above in the thread said the software we were suppose to receive this morning was an older build than what was pushed out yesterday. Is it a mistake?

I have all kinds of phone storage but I don't think that's the issue here. I think it's a cache problem. My /cache currently says 59 MB used, 125 MB left.

My theory is that not only does the update file reside there, but I'm guessing that since it's an update, certain OS files are being temporarily cached in case there's a problem with the update. So you may actually need much more space than whatever the file size itself requires.

If anyone having space (to install) problems could download the app "OS Monitor", it may be helpful to get a finger on this. Open the app, and press the "Misc" tab. It'll list your current usage for /system, /data, /sdcard, and /cache.

No, it's a newer build. The actual GB update (the first update) has a build number 4.6**.* while the second update has a build number 4.8**.*
