2nd Time speaker has blown

Just wondering if anyone has had a Eris speaker (not the ear speaker) blow out on them. This is my second one. It still works but is all tingy now. They will replace it with a brand new one. I would really like to know what the heck I am doing to cause this. I am thinking bad luck. Love this damn phone...and its hell getting it back to the way I left it when they replace it.

You can save your configuration on the SD card, can't you?

And I dunno what causes it. Your Pandora, maybe? :D

It's in an awkward place and the phone back cover doesn't help alleviate pressure that gets caught inside. Do you listen to music, but with the screen up, blocking the speaker as well as pressure?

That's all I can think of.

I actually found the eris speaker to be pretty good for playing music when I first got it but I have to say the sound quality is now very poor with audible crackles that weren't there before. It's made it just about unbearable to listen to without using the jack. Pretty sure its blown.

Exactly what happened to me the first time....returned for a new one and back to same issue again. It makes me feel like I will be stuck at some point with a phone with a broken speaker for 2 years. For now the manufacturers warranty covers it. I also have a power button that is not sticking out as far now. You would think I just beat the crap out of this thing. :)

How about ringer volume? Is that maybe cranked all the way up? And since the general thought in the thread is 'loud music', is your ring tone a song?

Great question. I asked myself the same question. Then I thought...come on...can such a small thing blow this speaker...maybe. Like I said earlier..this is the second replacement. Since the last time I have not played music thru the speaker. So yes just the ringtone. Most of the time maxed out...(most ringtones are hard to hear as it is).

My ringtone is as section of "When the Levee Breaks" and my ringer is set to full blast. Get about two or three calls a day. Then my text notification is "Ascend" and I get about 100 or so alerts a day with text, emails, Google Talk, etc.
No problems with my speaker
"When the levee breaks, got no place to stay"
Cool tune.
