Looks to me like the Regional dude contradicted himself...

no.. I wasn't clear.. the regional guys (three of them) said it was a rumor... but they also said that if perchance VZW is going to allow pre-ordering, they'll announce it midnight. They had no knowledge of in-store pre-ordering.

Guys this is it! Monday is the day! There is absolutely no chance of ALL of these sources being wrong... especially since it's too close to the release date to be unexpectedly delayed. And the fact that we were getting lots of various dates before today is further proof that Verizon has finally decided a release date and it will happen on Monday!

That's... not how logic works.

Next question... if I order the screen savers with the phone... and they run out of screen savers... will they hold up my whole order until they get the flippin' screen savers in stock?

You're going to order a $15 piece of plastic from VZW to cover up your psuedo-gorilla glass? You could wait until they go on sale on the interwebz for fiddy cents.

Just got off the phone with my local store, and while I have yet to hear this from anyone on here, he told me first off he is a huge Nexus fan as well (a nice way to start the convo) and that he has been waiting just as long as us. After I asked if he had any info on release date, he proceeded to tell me that they are having a meeting for all employees at 7AM tomorrow morning and he was 95% sure it was about the Nexus and that its possible they will have them ready to sell tomorrow or Saturday. He told me to definitely stop by at 9 tomorrow and see if they at least have a display model, with the possibility of pre-ordering or even buying. I can't get my hopes up TOO high, but I am pretty damn excited.

Did you call the store on Beechmont? That's where I just called. If he's letting you get it early after he just told me no way until Monday I'm going to be pissed!

Thats the way I took your statement Steven. No preorder after midnight tonight or early tomorrow. But a possible announcement of such a thing tomorrow. Thanks for all your leg-work!

Also, for those of you opining about the state of their "dying xx" phone, I have little sympathy for you. I have been using my phone in this state for about 1.5 months.

Needless to say, next week cannot come fast enough. :)

My Rogue was like that, till it it finally died three weeks ago. That was since June by the way. I am sure someone needs this phone as bad as me, but I know nobody needs it worse. :p My ex wife threw it across the room when she was drunk, and I just had to deal with it. Now though, I have the 1st Casio GZ'One to get me by till the GNEX. It's so small and light!

DYING OG DROID USERS... AND OTHERS

How will you destroy your current mobile? I was asked this by a co-worker the other day. We started brainstorming.

ME:
1- Death by machine: The airport I work at is currently having parking lot work done. Having them crush it with their vibrating compactor (or by slamming the bucket of the ditch digger on it. Very aggressive maneuver- would be very satisfying.)

2- Death by suffocation: Bury in cement. Less satisfying... but more like a proper burial.

3- Skeet shooting: Self explanitory.

4- Death by heat: Either boiling with propylene glycol (high pressure spray gun included. Might cost the company a small fortune-- double satisfying.) Or by directly melting with the heating element for the de-icer.

5- Death by fall: Throwing from atop the grain elevator in town.

Of course, before it really became difficult to use, I planned to let my little girl use it as a media player and over wifi. I guess if factory reset and re-rooting help at all I might still go that route.

What say you guys?!

No death for mine, it's going to be my offline music player for vacations and camping trips replacing my 3rd gen iPod. Sometimes you just have to unplug but I like to keep my music around.

Did that to mine as well a few months back. $23 for a new front glass was a quick fix. Worth a lot more now whenever I sell it towards a GNex. :D
