Back To Android From Iphone

Hello everyone. New to the forum and thought id say hi & ask a question (or 3!).

Im currently using an iphone 4 which is approaching the end of its contract, a wee while before having the iphone i was one of the early adopters of the T-Mobile G1 (which i enjoyed owning very much), when it came time for renewal the phone was rather battered and nothing much on the android front that floated my boat at the time so i went down the iphone route.

Now obviously things have changed and there seems to be a list as long as my arms and legs of android phones.

What android phones would people recommend on a mid budget with a fairly low monthly cost (prefereable handset free or mininal cost).

Considering you were using an iPhone4, you may get a little bit frustrated with mid range Android phones, since in terms of smoothness or speed, you'd need higher end or almost high end Android phones to have comparable experience to an iPhone.

You may want to mention what provider you are looking at as well.

thanks for the reply, i wasnt sure how far things had come, i had looked at the Samsung Galaxy range but so far as i can see there are about 6-7 of them with the top end being the S2 & the Note being at the top end spec & size wise with the rest fitting in somewhere underneath.

Im currently on O2 in the uk.

UK huh, hmm. The closest thing to mid range with comparable smoothness to iPhone among Samsungs would be the Galaxy S1 series (The Galaxy S, the SL, and the S Plus). Not sure which ones are available to you.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 and it is an excellent phone. Very fast and smooth also very thin. I managed to get mine on 02 through a 3rd party online company, I got the phone for free and pay

I've got a Nexus S and it doesn't appear to be less smooth or slower compared to the iPhone 4. Granted, after having had more time to play with my brother's iPhone 4S, the 4S does appear to be less jerky when doing certain tasks compared to the iPhone 4.

yeah.. you should not get a mid-range android.. any newer dual core phones should be fine.

That's because the Nexus S was a high-end phone last year, that was created to directly compete with the iPhone 4. It's just as fast as the 4, if not faster.

LOL sounds like my laptop (and my car)... depreciates once its off the lot or out the door! But cellphones these days are getting just as quickly updated which is sweet!

I am totally with you on that! Getting new clothes every week is so 3008! where laundry is sooo 2000 "late"!
