***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Everybody relax. Scottg is just reporting what he is hearing, just like everyone else is - including Kellex, P3, and Phil. We won't know anything definitive until Verizon gives us a date. That doesn't mean that people can't tell us all what they are hearing. After all - that is why we are all here

Thanks for keeping us in the loop, as always. It is much appreciated.

As much as I enjoy reading and replying in this thread, I think it is a wise idea to take a bit of a break. Maybe for just tonight, maybe for a bit longer. Everything is back and forth at this point.

I will leave you guys (for now) with just this thought: Despite what we saw today, I STILL think Verizon would be absolutely stupid to not have this thing available by BF weekend. As I was thinking this, I read Hans post, and I'm glad that there is still some people higher up in VZW saying this.

Look, they have shown themselves to be pretty incompetent at times, especially with device launches. But they aren't THAT stupid. Barring any hardware defects or supply shortages, even the most basic marketing employee would know how much of a BAD idea missing the BF date is with a device like this. I don't think they would even let a minor software bug, such as the Backup Assistant not working or Exchange issues, delay them for two, almost three weeks, as that can be fixed via OTA pretty quickly. And if you believe certain people, the device has either been or is close to be shipped, it would be way too late to recall all of them just to do a software update.

Also, let's not forget why they call it "Black Friday" in the first place. :) And as far as we know and can tell, the RAZR and Rezound are NOT selling in the way they want them to. They can't think that just because it is BF that they will magically start to fly off of the shelves. They must realize that people are either A. Waiting for the Nexus because that is the only phone they will buy or B. Waiting for the Nexus because they want to make the BEST possible buying decision, and want the Nexus to compare to the other two.

I'm confident that, in some way, it will be available to purchase for BF. But for now, I'm taking a bit of a break. If somebody could please be so amazing as to PM me if we hear anything close to official or anything substantial, I would love you forever. Thanks :D

I think this phone is going way more mainstream that Verizon ever anticipated. They probably planned this phone to be their niche phone and that everybody would go for the Razr or maybe the Rezound. It doesn't seem to be working out that way just hearing about the poor sales and the reports of just average customers (read not crazy like us :D) going into stores and asking about the SGN. Plus this thing is all over the internet. Way more than previous Nexii. I never even knew the Nexus S was out there before this thread and I'm on the internet and tech sites all the time keeping up with work stuff.

I really this this has caught Verizon off guard and the reason for their confusion about releasing. I also think there could be a supply problem brewing with Samsung as they may not have expected this much demand this fast.

We've seen very dubious screen caps that say 12/8, the most probable of them appears to be an advertising campaign one rather than a release.. and it's still on the shaky side.

Show me one that says the Galaxy Nexus (not the Samsung Nexus) is going to be released on the 8th and I'll grudgingly admit it might be a possibility.. but as of now, the 21st has as much validity as the 8th (actually more imo, your opinion may be different).

Regardless of the release date, this'll be my next phone. Just gives me more time to remember why I'll never go Moto again with my DX if I have to wait.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Does it matter which 2 of the 3 words they use?

Does anyone know when the double data deal runs out? I didn't see it on the VZW site.

I'm coming over from AT&T and leaving behind an unlimited plan (I should be OK, looking at past usage). I don't want to miss out on this deal, so, do I need to rent-a-razr?

I guess it's best to wait until next week, if no news by Wednesday, maybe I should consider it???

I have absolutely no problem with that, but if he's gonna call others out as fake and unreliable, then I have to make sure all the facts are laid out there.

I would have to disagree. This phone definitely seems like a premium, elite phone for them to carry. It's definitely nothing big that people would line up outside the average Verizon store for. In fact, I'll probably be the only one in my town buying one on the day it's released... I think Verizon realizes this and is putting it off compared to more recognizable and "high social status" phones such as the Droid RAZR (a combination of two of the most well-known Verizon brands EVER) and Rezound.

Am I the only one now really concerned about the 16/32gb? Granted I would rather have a 32gb, but its by no means (to me) a deal breaker. Right now I use about 7gb on my phone and I have everything I want on there. Now with Google Music I can probably cut that in half.

If it suits you with 16GB that's cool, but if you wanna carry around music for offline play, and a couple movies, things are gonna get cramped fast. I would much rather have the 32 GB. I don't think it'd be a deal breaker if the 32gb wasn't offered, but for a non-expandable storage phone 16gb seems pretty skimpy.

I honestly don't think the double data thing is going anywhere before Christmas. Verizon doesn't usually do things like this and then quit them after a week or three.

Edit: I asked my sister who works at VZW (not in any special position there or anything) about this and she said not to worry about it. Verizon has done these "limited time" packages and then they've gone on for 6 months before, or they just never changed them. They want people on the 4G phones.

My thoughts exactly. I didn't even fill up half of my Thunderbolt's 32 GB SD card and with Google Music the only thing I really need to worry about taking up space is apps... I could probably even go for an 8 GB model lol.

Again, Verizon promised us the Nexus two years ago. Two years is toying with us. If they didn't have the best network in my areas, I would gladly leave.

Pray tell, by what games has evil Verizon played on us? Verizon has publicly stated by the end of the year. That's it.

They haven't stated 11/3, 11/21, 11/28, 12/8 or any other date, then yanked it and held it back and gave us another date, to yank again, etc. I know I'll be in the minority of this opinion, but the real culprit is all the false released info we get, that gets our hopes up, and then we blame Verizon for toying with us.

This isn't a criticism of some of our fine sources and other information that was leaked around the web. They are providing the latest information they can, but the problem is, the date is changing. Be if for technical or strategic reasons, Verizon isn't ready to release this.

But in all fairness, Verizon has NOT given us any false info so far. Now if Dec 31st comes around and we don't have it, I'll pick up the pitchforks with everyone else and storm the castles. :D

They have given us false info!

Me!

I talked myself out of the better camera, then the sd card, then the release date push back....this is just starting to feel like a last straw situation for me

Yeah, it does. Everywhere else Verizon talks about the phone they call it the Galaxy Nexus or Samsung Galaxy Nexus. A typo in one of the words, sure.. that might not mean anything. Leaving out part of the name of the phone this late in the game? That wouldn't get past the people who review those documents before they go out - especially when there is a competing phone called a Samsung Nexus S out there.

Combine that with the other circumstances of the leaked picture and I'm calling shenanigans on it. Verizon may be the evil empire and may be stupid for the way they are marketing/holding this phone back compared to the Razr, but they don't often mess up message-wise internally from what I've seen - unless the wireless division is completely different from the landline/fios part of things.

You must have a lot of music, and I can understand that. I am not as huge into music as a lot of people are. I listen when I can and at work (radio mostly), but I don't have a huge collection. Most of the time I like listening to Colin Cowherd on ESPN in the middle of the day, so that is 3 hours right there.

I'd be buying a Rezound tonight if I knew for sure that only 16 was available.
