***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Late Friday Conspiracy Theory -

So. Google specs the phone, but VZW is able to spec supply commensurate with their network/needs (obvious per radios).

And suddenly it hits VZW execs what they have been seeing in popular news reports and what it correlates to - the same excitement they saw when the iPhone came out.

Concerned about prior commitments to Apple for the iP4s, they delay the phone looking for loopholes until they discover that they can restrict sale of the 32 GB model and reset pricing in order to prevent square-deal 1-to-1 comparisons between the Galaxasaurus Nex and the iP4s.

Not just that. I have a strong feeling they were expecting and now are trying to find ways to get a different share of RAZR/Rezound/Nexus sales that what is turning up. I really think they over ordered RAZR's thinking it would be a huge seller based on build material and thinness. Probably had some odd EXTREME control of the Galaxy Nexus deal negotiated(google/samsung would have to give them this unless they went on their own and had to sell the device full retail and that might have burned Samsung in general and this is why I am so annoyed about the FCC rules stuffs being ignored).

I am still pretty sure the only reason Apple works well with VZW is they are both OCD type companies that think the same so it makes negotiations over what device should be and how release should be handled nonissues.

Could it be that it was planned this way? This IS verizon's version of the GS2. Will Verizon be controlling updates for the phone like every other Android in their lineup? The plot thickens....

No, it's a Nexus. It's been confirmed to always receive the latest updates DIRECTLY from Google, instead of having to be adjusted by Samsung and approved by Verizon.

If that was the case and they really wanted to set a new price precident, why not have 16gb for $249 and 32gb for $349? You know a lot of ppl would get the 32gb and they would sell more overall

True. Its hard to tell and all speculation. But interesting either way. I was just thinking as a business person. $299 for a 16gb model is better than $249. Then I'd offer both options when sales start to subside at the price points you suggest. Then discount from there then sales slow again. Plus, don't forget this also makes other more profitable phones more enticing due to storage options.

Who other than Verizon knows at this point. At least now we're seeing why it was said the phone is Verizon's.

Can somebody please explain to me what's going on here with the 16 GB thing? As of yesterday the Google "tech specs" for this phone read 32. How does that POSSIBLY change overnight?

Someone at Google went into their site and clicked the edit button. Either the original 16/32GB spec or the now 16GB only is a mistake. Our problem is we have no way of knowing which is the mistake at this point. :(
