hey my brethren and....sistren? lol, how's everyone? i slipped out for a few to get some errands done, can someone kindly give me an update?

We got put in time out by Rob. Then Phases chimed in. All pretty rightfully so, IMHO. Now we are back to discussing that which can not be determined - the release date. Add in some 16gb vs 32gb debate because of the Google page having changed and you have our morning.

Oh - and Han is sick.

Folks - Please dont crucify me even if I am building the cross and laying right next to it with this post.

Verizon will not release this device for several possible reasons all of which have to do with the bottom line - as much possible revenue as possible. In our society this is exactly what we expect from every company we invest our retirement funds and hard earned pay with.

1) They will not release any device that might have issues according to their high standards whatever that might be. They are bar far the best cellular phone company in the US by leaps and bounds. Look at phone service maps and objective industry comparison of customer satisfaction.

2) By not releasing this phone now or ever for that matter they might lose at absolute most 500 contracts. By lowering standards to what others have accepted they will surely lose more in the long run. At least more money with returns and replacement devices.

3) They may certainly want to push and sell more of a Motorola or HTC product which they have exclusive hardware and software control. While it amazes me - many millions pay to use their apps for a cost.

4) They have not stated a release date for this device that they have not yet lived up to. They may not be meeting what our speculative dates have been, but in the end that is all they did not meet - our internally set expectations.

Sorry for the rant, but we are really mad that Verizon has not met a date that we set. I am waiting as you and do not like it one bit. I am not going to act like others we see elsewhere in this country that "occcupy" as others have not given them for free what they expected based on their own set expectations.

I think all of you are great and as you will be happy when my G-Nex is in my hands.

Wow the forum closed I need to catch up!

Guessing it's the letter?

So 16GB is looking more likely. I've never used more than 3GB on my 8GB sd card on my Inc. I'm fine with that, but I certainly see why some wouldn't be.

I did read a few posts in the last hour (I think) about ICS being a momentary perk...blasphemy :p ....for me this is huge! And of course prompt Google updates

Thank god? for 16gb?? wtf? This is NOT good news. Notice too, that now the UK version has been changed to 16gb only as well. Looks like we will SURELY only have a 16gb option.

This is a total deal breaker for me. My last two iPhones have been 32gb. I have been use to this storage amount and can not go backwards. Looks like I will probably be picking up the SGS2 on AT&T. Didn't someone say there would be a 0.01 deal on black friday??

I still haven't picked up the Rezound yet, for 1 reason and 1 reason only. I know how much I have loved my prior 2 HTC devices, and I know if I pick it up, I'm not going to trade it out for the Nexus. BUT, it hasn't been rooted or S-Off yet, and that fact was integral in my loving the Inc and Eris as much as I did so the thought of having to keep it stock and running it on HTC's clock scares me.

I really don't think we will be seeing this phone before the 8th. My rep said he would call and text the minute he knew something more than I do, so as far as he is concerned, they don't have phones, demo or otherwise, in and nothing has changed beyond marketing and accessories. The question is, do I continue to use a phone borrowed from Verizon for the better part of another 3 weeks, taking the chance that it could wind up broken and I would be out the cost of that phone plus the cost of buying another? Or do I jump ship?

I played with the ReHound. It was nice but I would end up rooting it for CM7, then later CM9. I have done this with my DInc 2, so I see no point. That said, I love HTC phone when running AOSP. Battery life is not an issue with CM7. NEXUS PLEASE!

I don't think this was a rant at all. I think it was a well thought out statement. While I'm not sure about the number in #2, I do agree with you on the rest.
Especially #4. I have said from the time the press release came out that they promised us 'this year'. Yes, we've heard rumors, we have had sources tell us dates but the head honchos have NOT given us a date yet. Do we want to kidnap them and hold them hostage for this - most definitely. Will we bitch, whine, moan, complain, cry and be less productive until they do give us a date - YES. But bottom line is that they haven't, and as much as I love Steven, the Love Tunnel, Steven's other source(s), Hanette, and OTD's contact (and any others I inadvertently left out) they are not the ones with the Red Phone of Release.
/BabyBlues rant.

The google page also shows the UK device as being only offered in 16 gb as well. I have a facebook message into the sole provider of Nexi in England asking them if they have the 32 gb version. If they do, then we can assume it will be offered here, as well.
As of yesterday, the UK page was still showing 16/32GB.

Still not worried about it, and not sure if the response will help anything. Past information was that the GSM model was 16GB, and the LTE model 32GB.

So even if the source only confirms 16GB, that doesn't change the chance that we'll see the 32GB on Verizon. My guess is that someone got a little hyperactive while editing. That's it.

Yea I don't know what happened there. Although during my 14 days with it the major issue was imo the worst kind...constant 4G/3G momentary data loss. I don't think they have yet to even push an update to fix it either although I could be wrong and I often am ;)

EDIT: Although I guess you could look at from a different perspective....imagine how many more issues phones might have if they didn't test them as vigorously as some claim they do hmm

Like the Bionic, right?

Have no idea where you're getting 500 contracts from. There are thousands of people following the release of this phone, not just here. And many of them are OG Droid owners with expired contracts.

3) They may certainly want to push and sell more of a Motorola or HTC product which they have exclusive hardware and software control. While it amazes me - many millions pay to use their apps for a cost.
I agree with this, but I don't see how it translates into late release or even no release. The iPhone doesn't have their apps either and it's making Verizon a LOT of money in new contracts.

4) They have not stated a release date for this device that they have not yet lived up to. They may not be meeting what our speculative dates have been, but in the end that is all they did not meet - our internally set expectations.
True.

That wasn't too painful, was it? :p

i forgot to mention, i went to my Verizon corp store and played with the HTC device, the screen is definitely nice, and so are those headphones. Very smooth phone overall, camera focusing and quality is great, better than i expected. Also very fast "shutter" (virtual shutter) speed. definitely better than my Droid 3 shutter speed. definitely not as thick as i thought it would be either. very comfortable back cover due to its rubbery surface. Not bad overall, but i CANNNOT get away from Samsungs SAMOLED screens, i had the Droid Charge and man, that screen is fantastic, i can't even imagine what it'll be like as a 720p version. Can't wait.

Something some people may not think about when saying that 16gb won't bother them. 1080p videos on the ip4s run in the area of 175mb per minute, so if you like to take videos and keep them local to show friends/family, it can eat into your space quick. This becomes even more of an issue if you aren't grandfathered into unlimited data where you can cloud the videos for playback

Nooooooooo.....

Go GSU! :)

Ha, mostly just pulling against Florida, you can appreciate that can't you?

OK, so, world's most useless CSR at my local store... I called and asked about the double data promo... he "thinks" it will go through the Holiday's (indicating Christmas)

No news on the Nexus... "Samsung said at the beginning of this month, but, that didn't happen, so, I have no idea now, but, it should be before the end of the year"

that's all I have, a whole lot of NOTHING.

(not his fault though, he probably truly doesn't know the answer to either question)

Tough crowd.

Just because they've launched a bunch of phones with issues doesn't mean they want to continue doing that. Anyone ever consider that?

And did anyone consider that Google is partially in the mix here too, either due to software issues, or from the fact that they are refusing to let Verizon launch a device with issues, because thier reputation is really on the line.

BMX himself stated that part of the issue was Google related. I don't trust him for Verizon info, but I do for Google info.
