Well since we have native screen capture abilities I feel that this thread is a must.

in case you didn't hear

Lightly hold down power and tap the home softkey to take a screen shot.

I would post one to start this off but i'm at work and can't do that at the moment.

Mod Edit: If you have a question about a screen source, app, or anything else contained in one of the screenshots then please ONLY quote the screen you are referring to instead of quoting the entire post:)

Also If any screen could be considered racy or NSFW then please use the
pic[ /hide] tags with nsfw warning, thanks

Here are a few. My set-up is quite simple, usually just an unobtrusive clock up top and four folders towards the bottom. All my other home screens consist entirely of HTC sense widgets like calendar, friend stream, etc, so no need to show.

I've tried many set-ups and I always end up coming back to this one. I do use a live wallpaper that changes my background at set intervals (currently every hour) or when I double tap to keep things fresh. I've included my primary home screen with several wallpapers and two examples of what it looks like with the folders open.

Btw, I notice that the screen shots taken with the phone is 736x1280, hence the extra bit of black space on the right. No biggie, I'm just grateful we can take shots at all without being rooted.

These are obviously resized as per forum rules. If you want to see these pics in there native resolution go here:

Edit: Actually, the originals are in some weird resolution (588x1024). I guess it's a photobucket thing.

Just in case you or anyone else is interest in the wallpapers shown, I've attached a zip with all of them and a few others I really like. They are of various resolutions but should look pretty good. I'd use an app that allows you to easily crop pics like quickpic or wallpaper wizardrii (both available for free in the market) to get the best PQ as the stock gallery seems to do funny things depending on the resolution of the picture.

View attachment Public.zip

As for the folder app, it's call smart shortcuts (also free in the market). Very easy to set-up and use and allows for backup and restore of folders.

I am still tinkering around with wallpapers as the HD screen and phones annoying habit of cropping every pic I try to set as wallpaper is pissing me off..lol. I did manage to throw up two simple lock screen pics though, so I posted them below. I will play around with wallpapers again when I have more patience. Is there anyway to not crop pics that you want to set as wallpaper?

Those are all my screens. Not sure if using Launcher Pro is in the spirit of things (but having a 5x6 icon homescreen and a 5 icon dock is just too nice to pass up). :p
Also, while the built in screenshot feature is nice, I'm disappointed that it saves them as a low quality .jpg. Is there a way to have the phone save them as a .png?

Can you not expand the 'crop' box when you go to set the wallpaper? Just 'click' the bottom of the box and drag it down? Took me a couple times to get it right it seemed

Yes you can do that but even then it's limited and you can't get the entire picture highlighted. Or at least I can't..lol. For example, if you use a picture that's like a desk top style wallpaper(longer that it is tall) when you expand the crop it will hit the height border and then stop so you loose the rest of the width of the picture. Screens are a rectangle but the cropping tools highlights in a square it seems so you loose some of the picture. The only place I have seen it show up as a rectangle is when I go to set the lock screen pic and even then I can never seem to get the whole picture. I was hoping there was some way to just pic the picture and that's it, no cropping at all.

If you tried to use the whole image in the way you're saying, you'd get black bars on the top and bottom. The problem is, the default wallpaper size is 1440 wide by 1280 tall (this is due to the scrolling wallpaper effect that you can activate) . Unless you can find an image those exact dimensions (or aspect ratio), you won't be able to use the whole image.

Ahh, I see. Maybe I can alter and existing image with a resizing program to those dimensions. The problem is can I do that without distorting the image.

The best solution for this is to use an app called wallpaper wizardrii to set your background imagine. It's free in the market:

https://market.android.com/details?...S50d2lzdGVkYXBwcy53YWxscGFwZXJ3aXphcmRyaWkiXQ..

What's great about it is that it will allow you to take any wallpaper of any size and crop it perfectly to fit your phone. It also has options to crop to allow for wallpaper scrolling (1440x1280) or keep the image static (720x1280). The latter option is what works with the sense launcher. It also has an insane amount of other customization options, but the only thing I've ever used it for is to set wallpapers of varying resolutions, like the ones I posted here, so they'll look nice.
