You youngun's enjoy your youth (which IMHO is wasted on the young).

I, for one, would never go back to my 20s UNLESS I could go back knowing what I know now.

.........That Han shot first in the cantina.

That Han's was the ONLY shot in the cantina! Yeahhh!

BTW I have the original trilogy, in original theatrical release form, on DVD copied from the laserdisks of the day. So my kids aren't totally ruined by Uncle George's insistence on changing something every time he re-releases them... :)

Yes, just ask them politely not to and I'm sure they'll comply, as Verizon lets customers activate phones themselves instead of having to do it in-store. Also tell them you know what's in the box already so you don't need a walkthrough :p

I figured, just needed some reassertion. Thanks!

As for the whole "They open at 10am" thing, I just checked and the store I'd be going to opens at 9am at the latest.

I'd be perfectly fine with that. :D

So then in recent history on VZW a high demand phone has never just launched without notice ahead of time (even if minimum 1 day). So, safe to assume that it ain't happening tonight/tomorrow (12:01am).

We should probably be more concerned about a press release, then... instead of worrying about testman going down or other craziness.

Well I'm just looking forward to hearing an announcement (press release) tomorrow, and I'm not in any way explicitly expecting them to go on sale tomorrow, but rather later in the week, when all the corporate store locations get their shipments.

Yes, it is a matter of principle. I am sick of VZW's attitude. Yes they have a great network and they are also very expensive and generally act like they don't care weather you stay or go.

Because they don't. As a corporation they have too many customers to be influenced by a single loss. Most CSR's do try to keep you with them, though.

Did you actually see any verizon branding? I saw one today, but didn't see Verizon listed anywhere. Seems to be HTC putting out this advertising, not verizon.

I've seen 2 different commercials but your right Verizon isn't really mentioned.

However I have also seen the Sprint "why would anyone want to limit the iPhone, we won't" commercial which cracks me up every time.

I agree but that is wrong too. No business is ever to big to not worry about losing a subscriber. In fact if I leave I take 5 lines with me.

Look at Sprint, they have great prices and decent coverage yet they hemorrhage customers every quarter.
All it takes is a crack in the dam and eventually it becomes a flood. There are a lot of people who are sick of VZW and are in the position to take a hike.

I don't know what I'm doing yet but I know I am sick if their garbage.

Wanna bet? A few years ago I got a call from one of the executives begging me not to leave and gave me whatever I wanted. I even got a call back from them after taking a survey to discuss what I had to say. In my experience they go out of their way to please me every time I had an issue.

How would locking or encrypting the bootloader change anything with respect to OS controlled functionality like tethering, etc.? If you were able to root, would you not be able to access and control these sorts of things?

Verizon doesn't want their customers getting away with native (free) tethering support, so they have to disable it and lock the phone so you can't root, and thus, tether for free.

But I have an original set of numbered lobby cards.....from Star Wars.

I don't think we'll hear any press release regarding new phones until AFTER the 4-day sale ends tomorrow night. My opinion.

Hm, well did you reach out to the executive first? My point is, if someone was upset with their service and wanted to leave Verizon they usually wouldn't give them much trouble.

I understand they don't want free tethering but that would be an O/S function not a bootloader function, correct? The O/S is open source. They can't 'lock' it.
