Apple's iPhone4S vs. LG Esteem

Have been using Android for over a month now. Honestly, I think iOS is a superior operating system, and the App Store offers a far superior experience than the shitty Android Market and Amazon AppStore. The only good thing about Android is that it is available on many carriers and many different phones, so the choices are many.

It is exactly like the situation with Mac vs Windows. Mac is the superior operating system, but what Windows offer is choices: you can pick and choose any manufacturer and any setup for your PC. While Mac and MacBook comes in perhaps half a dozen models at most, I can seriously customize a Windows PC -- or just completely build it with whatever components I want.

iOS is the Mac for smartphones. Android is the Windows for smartphones. (I prefer Windows over Mac, by the way. I like choices and options.)

True but thats the great thing about this forum. The more we talk the more we learn from each other :D

Yea I agree.

When I had my iPhone 3gs it was horrible. All it had was a better appstore and the android market is.catching up quickly. Android OS has surpasses IOS in sales which means more apps for android.

This phone is faster and more reliable then my iPhone ever was. I have not had one issue with this phone and have had it since October 5th.

I agree android is catching up and that will only benefit us the consumers. The 3Gs was a good phone for its time. I like the 4s is one heck of a phone and the Esteem is not slouch either. The sales of Android will always surpass the iphone since theres so many makes and models of it. Lets just hope that cell makers improve their phones instead of holding it back.

I'm having this issue where I have the 4G icon at the top lit in green and everything and every so often the arrows turn on and off and my YouTube app or YouTube itself isn't working and neither is the android market. metro web works though in fact I'm using it right now to type this. I have tried rebooting and turning work off and on same with the airplane mode but nothing.

That sounds like the typical 4G issue. Try doing a hard reset(before you do that transfer all your apps, pictures, movies to your SD card. If you don't you will lose everything) if this doesn't work then take the phone to metro and show then the problem, maybe they will replace it for you.

No disrespect, but are you saying you could get 3-5mbps on Verizon's 3g network? I never heard of any carriers3g network being anywhere near that speed.

Well, where I'm at it's more like 1-4mbps and I have seen people get 2mbps on Verizon's 3g. Coming from 1x, that 1-4mbps is like a dream but, it's still nowhere near Verizon's 4g. Hell, it's nowhere near AT&T or T-Mobile's HSPA+. And, true 4g is far beyond all of that.

it wasnt a constant, but I pulled test speeds on avg of 2.5 and as high as 5 b4 on Verizon. Now if Crickets was just half that I would be happy, and Metro, eh everything but their LTE sux.

My 2 cents on the original question...

The Iphone is as good as it is because apple originated the concept of a smart phone and aple is good at leveraging the capabilities of the hardware they use. apple equipment always runs at slower clock speeds than are average for competitors. This is because when most manufacturers move on to the new generation of equipment apple sticks to it and squeezes every last drop of performance out of it. ( If you think otherwise just ask yourself this... why, if apple is so "cutting edge" is there still no 4g capability in their iphones?... $$$) This is good for them because as this hardware goes down in cost apple makes more money because they still charge you top dollar for their product. The other end of this is that apple charges more because of their software reputation which is what it is because they engineer things to be "simpler." The ipod/phone/pad were all developed with one idea in mind... 1 button accessibility. So apple is easier to use but is built on older (or slower) hardware and costs more initially and every month after that.

Apple products are not as good at multi tasking as windows and android based products. apple wants to control what you do with your iphone/pad/pod and milk more $ out of you with the itunes store. You HAVE to update by linking to a computer and going to itunes while all I have to do is turn my phone on. If my GF's iphone freezes and linking to itunes does not fix the issue she has to wait for the phone to die before she can charge and restart it. I just take my battery out and re install it. My Gf pays $130 a month for an unlimited plan with her iphone 4 on a 3G network (she's been on att for years and has a grandfathered plan) I pay $60 for mine on a 4g (LTE) network.

Ultimately I pay less for more up to date hardware and I am clearly in control of what I do with and to my phone. and just because i'm a guy I feel good saying to her.. "mine's bigger." :D

i had some other points but they currently escape me and i'm sure you get my point so i'll stop now.

while i agree iOS is a refined OS but thats about it. hardware wise most android phones BEAT the iphonesssssssss. but not so far, android is catching up really quick. now, lets see how jelly beans play out for android.

and btw, windows phone are the windows phone which have mango OS, not android (that's GOOGLE. linux will soon become a contender for these PC OS)

It just doesn't make sense or Cents to me to buy an Iphone. The only things in its favor are longer battery life and a SLIGHTLY better screen. it will cost twice as much a month for less than unlimited 3g service and the retail price of the phone is almost twice as much for an inferior device. But you do get to be like everyone else and be treated like garbage by the snobs at the apple store.

The esteem n iphone aren't even in the same class. Most people buyi g an esteem bi7ch about paying $300 for it, I cant even imagine the crying that they would do if they paid for even the lowend iphone which goes for about $600 and about $800 for the 32Gb model. Apples n oranges spec wise, iphone wins hands down but even 'jailbreak'd' is still limited to what u can do with it. So to me Android always wins as I can make like I want, 'freedom'.

If you NEED great call quality for your job

Your company should be paying for the phone and service in that case. I would never use my personal line for company business. And if your employer cannot afford to pay for cellular service for their employees to use in the field you should be looking for a better job. There is no reason for employees to pay for something that should be a company expense.

Well battery life is fine on my OEN Extended battery for $10 shipped. I can go 24hours on pretty dang decent texing surfing and gaming time. BUT Idk if yall have heard but Adobe Flash on mobile devices has ended except for security updates so Flash is decent definitely but since the world is moving to mobility the rest will start mpving to HTML5. This isnt a problem, now due to the fact that we are talking abiut these devices we wont need to worry about that.because we will all have new phones before everyone moves to HTML5 bUT unless Adobe has changed their minds AGAIN ehat i said stands as Adobe is done with Mobile Flash except for security updates. So basically as of right now Flash is good, Battery life if you listen to our instructions is good too, open source AND customization vs true speed FEEL, the cool silver logo, the girls that like you because they think you are in the same food group as the... Mentally Ill Grape(?) On the back lol and more money. Both phones are phenomenal but if both were on Metro and withing $75-$100 of each other i would probably get the iPhone. But that may just be because it would be a new phone and another to play hack-me with lol
