How do you delete a ringtone you down loaded and no longer want underr your ringtones ?

You'd need to browse to the location of the ringtone using a file explorer on the phone (Astro/ES File Explorer) or connecting to your PC in mass storage/Disk Drive mode and delete it from the folder it's stored in. For it to appear in the list, it needs to be in a folder called Ringtones, so it should be relatively easy to find.

1. Download & Install Astro File Manager from the market
2. Open hit
3. Hit the Search Button on your handset
4. In the Page that appears, type the name of the ringtone you want to delete, press the magnifying glass on screen.
5. The file should appear on the screen, long press it and select open folder/directory, select that
6. Long press the file again in the new window and press delete.

All make sense? If not, just follow the instructions and tell me where you get stuck.

On the Galaxy S2, you dont need to download Astro. The My Files app is already built in.

HMMM ??? I got it deleted by going to Zedge application cklick dn load button at bottom, clicked ring tones - highlite the one I wanted to deleted and then clicked the sq bottom at botom left and hit delete.

App drawer. Just go in there and look for the icon that looks like a brown folder and says My Files.

as for the Zedge, you did not mention where you got the ringtone so we assumed that it was a random mp3 you put somewhere in the phone.

I am sorry and yep the folder is ther - thanks all and the unwanted ring tone is gone.

Ok so A friend of mine just got this phone and I was messing around with her and changed her ringtones to funny stuff i downloaded from the zedge app she had. Now I cannot get the ringtones to set back to just the default. Can someone pleassse help me!

I'm having a similar issue. I edited some mp3 files in garageband and used Kies Air to put them on my phone. I used the media>audio>ringtones folder to place the file, however when I inserted a better version of the song with the same name (e.g. "The Show") the older song still appears in the ringtone list screen even though I deleted it from the folder and there is no trace of it.

I also tried completely deleting the ringtones folder to eliminate any possible sign of the file, and now the names are still there but they won't play anything because there is no file to play. The names showing up is really aggravating me

I used no additional apps to help make the ringtones, only my laptop. Can I ever delete the 2nd obsolete file without having to reset my phone to defaults?

I am having the same problem as Cawnduit. Please someone tell us what to do to fix this? I have a bunch of basically blank ringtones under my settings>sounds>phone ringtone. It is really irritating.

So I had a similar problem to yours. I created my ringtones a little differently so not sure if this will work for you (and maybe you already figured it out since it has been a while since you posted) but I thought I would put this up for you anyway or any future readers.

I had double ringtones under my settings>sounds>phone ringtone and was getting really irritated trying to delete them because I would delete the file under my files>media>audio but they would still show up under the settings menu. I figured out that if you delete the original file under "my files" then to get it removed from your ringtones list under setting you just need to soft reboot your phone. So you delete the files you want, power off your phone, remove the battery for 30 seconds, put it back and power on and the file should be gone under your settings menu.

Now go to settings. then go to Storage (beside it, it has a pic of a sim card). Then go to Audio (music, ringtones, podca...). It will ask you, "complete action using.." click on ringdroid. Now go to the ringtone u want to delete. There is an arrow on the far right that is pointing down beside each ringtone. click the arrow next to the ringtone u want to delete. It will give u option to edit, delete, etc... just click delete!. To make sure the ringtone has been deleted, go to settings. then go to sound then under ringtone and notification go to device ringtone. then check thru ur list of ringtones to see if it is gone.
