Android Phone 7 Theme

Im using launcher pro plus on desire HD and it's a bit choppy while scrolling between screens which i believe due to heavy graphic, or is it?
Do you guys experience the same problem with your device or there might be some settings that would be useful, FYI my device has 1 ghz chip and 768 MB ram and currently I have 4 screens with full images (tiles if you like). Really love the idea of the theme but the choppiness is somewhat unpleasant to me. Please advise. Thanks.

It's been a while since I used LauncherPro (using ADW Launcher now), but I don't recall having any problems with scrolling on my Incredible. I assume you're not using any of the animated scrolls, like cube or 3D or anything like that...? I vaguely recall that there was a setting for a scrolling cache, but don't quote me on that. I would attribute it to anything else that you have running. I have always used five screens filled to the brim with Desktop Visualizer widgets with no compromise on scrolling. An active widget (like a clock, weather, news) or a live wallpaper will give much more considerable lag than static image widgets.

Just go through LauncherPro's settings again and see if something was missed. If you have anymore problems, I'll throw LauncherPro on my tablet and go through the settings to see if I can find a fix. Let me know how you turn out. Also, don't forget to post some screenshots of your layout when you're done!

I'm running high graphics level with no speed lag on GalaxyS2 on AT&T. Have used various launchers (LauncherPro, ADW, GoLauncher) all with similar speed and identical to the base launcher with stock icons.

Not sure why you're seeing lag. Have you experimented with turning off "high quality scrolling" and other optional settings in advanced settings? There is also the "memory usage preset" (advanced setting) and "transition effect" in homescreen settings.

Good luck. You could try another launcher but most tests have found the LauncherPro is the fastest out there (and my #1 choice except that you can't turn off the dock and completely delete it and recover that space).

Thanks for your help, Paulmz and peakjunkie.

My bad, after I disabled high quality trolling and transition effect it works fine now. Only some lags when doing screen preview but I can live with that:D

One more question, do you guys have to set up all the screen things all over again after a full wipe, backup and restore options seems to only remember LPP settings but not third party widgets, which is quite annoying after flashing new ROMs that require full wipe.

Again, appreciate your helps :D

Sorry I'm not wiping and starting over so can't help on this one.

I've gone back and created a whole new look and feel and will post later this week when done. A combinatiton of "peaceful/business" lock screen, first home screen and calendar and then 3 pages of very cool WM7 shortcuts and a full-screen "gallery page".

For cool, minimialist lockscreen/homescreen combinations, I've discovered "slopesurfer" (just goole his DeviantArt account) is about the best. Between Paul and him I'm sure they could re-skin the world and fix all of the social and economic problems with productivity short-cuts before the next election.

I don't know if LauncherPro added a save feature, but the last time I used it, there was no way of doing that.

I don't know about the free version, but ADW Launcher EX does allow saving of settings and desktop configuration. ADW also easily allows editing entire homepages (like easily changing which one is the main home page, rearranging the order of the home pages, adding and deleting entire homepages, etc).

Hope this helps!

I came up with some good, solid widgets that fit the style of this theme.

Your links don't work.

is it possible that this many widgets (using launcher pro plus) on galaxy s2 is draining battery a lot? i had it fully charged and during the night (from 00:00 to 9:00) it drained for 15%...i have 3 screens full of these icons?

No.

First, check your battery usage. I'll bet Desktop Visualizer isn't on the list at all.

Second, Desktop Visualizer is not a live widget. It's just a static image and uses hardly any more resources than a standard shortcut icon.

Third, if you think Desktop Visualizer is the culprit, just go into its settings and lower the memory usage, etc. But that won't really save battery power- more actual performance, smoothness, and clarity while the homescreen is on and active.

Finally, I have five homescreens with an average of 11 widgets per screen and no more battery consumption than using just one Facebook widget... and I'm just running an HTC Incredible with a slim extended battery. If my phone can handle it, I'm sure the new Galaxy can. Chances are there is something else using up battery. Honestly, though, 9-hours of standby will eat up 15% of battery easy, even without anything on the homescreen. I would bet that when you look at the battery usage that other things like the system and standby are the largest energy users.

Hope this helps ease your mind.

Hi Paulmz,

I tried ADW Launcher EX today but failed to restore desktop configuration. Did the backup but restoring did not work as desktop virtualizer can not detect links and images just like Launcher pro plus

All I did was saving all the Launcher settings and desktop configuration.

Does it work on yours? Is there any step that i should have done?

Best,

Best,

Alas, I attempted several scenarios and, unfortunately, ADW apparently restores only shortcuts, and not widgets as I had incorrectly assumed. As I'm sure you found out, it saves the widget location, but fails to reload the functional widget.

I do apologize about that. I haven't used the backup feature solely for Desktop Visualizer and was unaware of the widget limitation. I'm sure in the future this will be remedied. Both developers for ADW and LauncherPro are usually on top of what people want and need from their apps.

I did some research and read that My Backup Pro is supposed to backup the desktop, but I also read that it doesn't work with third-party launchers. I tried it anyway and it didn't work. It is apparently a limitation within Android itself and not specifically to any launcher.

So, it looks like the closest thing to backing up widgets is saving a screenshot for reference and placing them manually afterwards. This definitely seems like a pain and completely solidifies my reasoning against rooting and flashing ROMs. But if you are a chronic ROM flasher... and you use a "theme" that consists of only widgets...

Anyone else have any ideas?

Sure. Just let me know what size you need in pixels, or your device/resolution/layout (columns/rows/launcher/status bar/dock), and which font to use (Agency-original icons, or Myriad Pro-revised icons).

I honestly have no idea as to what preferences, I am using a Galaxy SII with the screen res of 480x800(I think or something along those lines.)

4 collumns, 5 rows I believe would be my screen settings. The images you have on all of your uploads are perfect size if that helps, I'm using most of all of yours and others posted here now.

edit: My current layout:

The Google Tile will be the one that gets replaced by the Opera Tile....

now I just need to figure out widgets

I haven't been here in awhile and since this was my by far favorite android related thread I wanted to pop in and say thank you to all of you, especially Paulmz for all the help that was shown to me while here on this thread.

I had some issues with my last 2 android phones so while I as waiting on a 3rd android phone, a buddy of mine let me use one of his Windows Phone 7 phones.....needless to say that i have left android and now have a nice shiny aggravation free WP7 phone of my own.

I still have an android for backup, I will probably flash some rom on it and play with it from time to time.

Sorta funny that my favorite theme on my android was covered here in this thread and now I have a WP7 phone! lol now I have to figue out how to get Denise Milani on this phone from my old post! http://androidforums.com/android-themes/199936-android-phone-7-theme-12.html#post2139440 or my Bruins http://androidforums.com/android-themes/199936-android-phone-7-theme-25.html#post2928411

Anyway, thank you again and huge props for Paulmz! :)

ps - Live tiles are very cool!!

hey paulmz can you help me with the size of my screen..?

the image cannot occupy the full size of the desktop visualizer.

my screen is 320 x 400

thanks.. i use some of the image of yours..

I'm not sure what you are asking for. Do you mean 320 x 480? I don't know of a device that has 320 x 400. If it is 320 x 480, please look here:
