***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Then they tried to tell me it was a 14 day return policy. Had to tell them..no. Another 5 minutes talking with managers and other reps as they were all clueless about the holiday return policy. (we are talking a big store with 15+ employees on the floor). They finally found out I was right! Guess none of them have looked at their receipts for days.

This is precisely why I take anything I hear from the store level employees with a grain of salt, even managers. I honestly think communication in Verizon is so poor, they are kept more in the dark than we are, even when it comes to important information.

so if the rezound had s-off and had a fully functional ICS rom on it.. how many here would go buy one today?
Being an HTC device is already a deal breaker for me.
Oh wow, the Rezound (along with a lot of other stuff) is just $0.01 on Amazon Wireless today. SOOOOO tempting to jump ship. I could surely resell it at a profit if I decided to go GNex. Question is, what will full retail be. Ends November. 28th. Hmmmm.
The Penny Pincher deal on Amazon is for new customers only. Existing customers have to pay $229.

Crap, I wish they would just let me go in there and buy a plan, give them money for my nexus, and then just say, give it to me when it comes in. I'd take a week or 2 without a phone to lock in twice the data for two years. Data is the whole reason I'm making the switch!

Go but a razr or rezound to lock in the data promo then return it when gnex comes out

Heck I cannot remember if ever I've waited two years. One year is more than enough time for technology to evolve. I got the Droid 3 in July and getting the Nexus. If the Nexus comes out on 12/8 I will have had the D3 six months and one day.
Ooh weee! You MUST be rich richman:Dseriously, I don't blame ya...I wish I had it like that, im such a best of the best tech junkie!! That's awesome, sadly for me I probably shouldn't be considering paying full price for the gnex right now, but if I can't get a n early upgrade, I must. Probably shouldn't spend half my time on a forum either but I just can't help it:rolleyes:

Personally, I don't buy it (by "it", I mean the executive's reason). Verizon has been shown to release phones with issues (Bionic?) in the past. Not to mention the fact that the phone has been released in the UK with minimal issues, and is seeing release dates in other countries as well, some as early as in a few days. If there was such a major issue with the phone, I can't imaging it being released elsewhere yet.

I still think it's a matter of pushing the RAZR/ReZound train as much as possible before they "have" to release the Nexus to keep some semblance of exclusivity.
You may be right, but this is the closest thing to an official response related to the release date (of any kind) we've seen since VZW first confirmed they'd be carrying the GNex.

I agree that there's a good chance they're holding the GNex back to boost RAZR/ReZound sales, but I also acknowledge that there's a good chance that VZW isn't even sure when they'll be ready to release the phone.

Well technically the GN is already obsolete. They're in the final stages of completion for newer, faster and better phones. But that's technology. If we waited for the next "best" phone we would never get one.

Locking in? Some of us don't wait for 2 years to get a new phone so we pay retail anyway.

Or we used the upgrade of family members who don't upgrade as often. :D

Had the same experience at my corp. store, but had a stuck up sales rep who refused to look in the computer and told me I had 14 days no matter what ( I was going to by the Razr full retail). I finally got pissed and just left thinking it just wasnt meant to be....I also thought at that point maybe it was just extended online or something.

They can't "change" the return period. It is in the system. It says it on every receipt. I don't have the receipt in front of me but it says on the bottom something about the extended return policy to Jan 15. You can just go buy it and shove the receipt in the persons face to prove they are wrong.

I have worked in retail in the past so them not getting word of something like this is not too unusual.

In the last couple days I've been to both Best Buy and a local corporate Verizon store.

Best Buy was mostly a dead end. The mobile manager that I know has apparently moved up the chain and is not at that location anymore. Bummer. The CSRs there had no information on the Nexus.

The Verizon corporate store was about what I expected. Asked the CSR if he had any information on the Nexus, he said he expects it in the next two weeks. Take it for what it's worth. He did say that they have gotten some cases and other accessories in, so that's something.

Also, out of curiosity I looked at the RAZR and Rezound. RAZR is stupid thin, but like others are saying, I don't like the width and huge bezels. Screen wasn't terrible, looked better than the Bionic. Rezound felt nice in the hand and it's narrowness was a welcome change from the RAZR. Screen resolution was stunning, but the colors didn't pop nearly as much as the RAZR. Plus, Sense. Blech.

Checking out the two phones reaffirmed my decision to wait until the Nexus comes out. My DX can certainly hold on until then!

Crossing fingers for an announcement today...

I'm surprised that this hasn't received more attention. It sounds like someone relatively high up on the VZW food chain is telling Chris (and now us) that they don't know what the release date will be because the phone isn't ready, at least from their perspective, and they don't want to risk giving us a date and then failing to meet it for whatever reason.

Unfortunately, this gives us nothing in terms of being able to estimate the release date. Their testing could (and probably) is complete, and is just waiting for the right executive at VZW to sign off on it; or the testing may still be in progress as they work through whatever issues have cropped up.

I think the biggest takeaway here, assuming the e-mail above is valid (no offense intended to to Chris), is that VZW hasn't given us a release date because they don't have a firm date themselves.

Cliff Notes: we still don't know anything, but at least we now have an official excuse from VZW.

*sigh*

Before you read to much into that, keep in mind its a FORM letter. You would get the SAME e-mail for any phone, they just change the relevant details...

Good morning GNexers! It's a crisp day here in Western New York and I am on my first day of a week long vacation!

I was certainly hopeful for a launch today. I now remember when I was in Verizon on Friday the sales dude said something about Verizon's ads during football games which made no sense to me at the time. As I pondered it, I considered maybe he was suggesting a GNex ad during a Sunday game. Since I don't watch football, I kept an eye on Twitter to see if the rumor mill lit up. No dice.

I finally realize these rumors are all useless. I knew that from a intellectual standpoint, but now I really get it. I grok. No offense intended to the leakers since they are just passing on information they receive in an attempt to be helpful.

I predict this week, no launch. I'm figuring the same for next week. As confusing as this all is and nearly inconceivable (yes, that word means what I think it means), Verizon refuses to launch it and there isn't a thing we can do about it. Once you accept that, the stress just flows out and life is really more enjoyable. Sometimes pessimism is the way to go!

I've been harping on this for the past few days but at least for me, it's really the healthiest way to view the situation.

We will EASILY beat the Incredible thread, no doubt in my mind. It's all good.

There is still ONE more game on tonight... MNF

I took this as nothing more than a canned answer from Verizon. And I don't think a supervisor is all that high up on the corporate chain. I've been a supervisor for a major corporation, and trust me...I was a peon.
OK, so perhaps implying that he's high up the food chain was an overstatement, but "Steve Schwed, Executive Relations Supervisor" sounds like he's at least an official mouth-piece for the higher-ups at VZW.

I'm not defending VZW on this launch- I don't see much excuse for this phone not to be released yet when other countries either already have it or are getting it this week, BUT I have wondered for quite a while whether VZW was being tight lipped because they don't want to risk announcing a release date and then failing ot meet it.

It may be that they want to push the Razr and Rezound a little longer as part of their marketing/sales strategy, or it may just be that they don't know the exact date that they'll be ready to launch the GNex.

JMHO... whatever the reason, I want my GNex now! lol

for those looking to grab one on att / tmobile here.
Not horrible prices for unlocked compared to other retailers.

I am considering pre-ordering from either Bell Canada or Virgin Canada because of lower pricing and the proximity of Canada in case of any necessary returns or exchanges. I have waited this long so a few more weeks won't matter that much to me. At least by doing this I can see a little light at the end of the tunnel.

Galaxy Nexus from Bell Mobility

Wardroid, Thanks for the heads up on the return policy extension. It sounds like that $45 restock fee is a small price to pay to eventually get everything I want. JUst hope it all works out. Might go pick up the Rez today to lock into the DD promo, hope it doesnt backfire on me...

It's actually a $35 restocking fee. Slightly better...

Well, at least Samsung will acknowledge the Nexus when you ask them about it. The "stay tuned" part has me optimistic that something is coming sooner rather than later. Not sure why, just my feeling.

Hey guys,

slightly offtopic, maybe but not really. I did some digging because I, like many others, am worried about the double data. Currently have no phone waiting on this...thing. Anyways. Quick google search shows this:

Until the end of the holidays, Verizon is offering a deal that'll double your 4G data plan for life

Found this on The Verge's site.

The Verge!

Side note: I'm a semi-lurker...apparently i had a forum account here and forgot. Good morning all my fellow Nexians..may the galaxy be with us soon...

May be wrong, but I also think you have 1 exchange if you're not happy with your device, free of charge. That may work for you coming from another carrier, they'd want you to be happy...Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Except the testers are saying its good to go. And other than the volume bug, which if current reasoning behind is true, won't even affect us, there hasn't been a major issue reported with the phone.

I did have one thought. Maybe Verizon isn't holding it because they want to sell more RAZRs and Rezounds, maybe they are holding it until those sales slow down a little, to even out its store and website traffic. It is also possible they were worried about overloading their CSRs with three vastly different smartphones all being released at once. Just thinking here.
