***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Can someone provide another link to the HTC dev site that unlocks phones? I know Early posted it, and I should have bookmarked it, but I didn't.

Anyone?

Doesn't work on the Rezound. Verizon locked that method out much like they locked out Moto's method for the Razr. You're only hope is that the Devs on the Rezound find a work around and exploit it as they have done the past few major launches.

FWIW (not much, given VZW's ability to change dates on the fly), rep just told me that he is now hearing the 8th, and the rumor is coming from the inside, not the web and tech blogs (still doesn't mean much as the higher-ups maybe using the tech blogs for their info and then passing it down). Also said he was getting a demo phone in sometime in the next week or so and would call me when I could come play with it. That's likely when I will make the decision as to whether or not I'm going to keep waiting for this phone.

So if Verizon has these phones (which I assume they do based on previous texts between Han and his sister) and they're holding onto them until a supposed bug is fixed, are they going to:

A) open each box and fix each phone
B) ship them to stores and have the desk clerk apply an update
C) sell them and have the update pushed to the phones as they activate

Anyone with a source... can you ping your people?

If it's B or C the phones can be sold today.
If it's A we are screwed.

I'm just trying to wrap my head around the process that we're going to have to wait on. Essentially I'm trying to draw out some more info on what follows with this testing/bug/fix delay. My thoughts are that an explanation to the drastic delay may ease some very impatient minds. Especially the ones with phones hanging on by a thread.

Note:
I'm aware that the delay is only internal in nature. Please don't prove your stupidity by commenting on my post in relation to that fact.
Though two weeks may not seem like much to you, you are not in my situation. Do not presume to be.

This is purely speculation on my part (based on a combination of "puzzle pieces"), but:
I THINK that the bugs were squashed before the LTE version was mass-produced... what I mean is that I think the LTE version was only mass-produced relatively recently, after they had already squashed the bugs. So from what I can gather HOPEFULLY they should be ready for primetime already.
Just thought i'd throw in those capitalized words for emphasis lol.

According to the sources (as of today) they are still working on the bugs or just finished working one them. Now explain how you came up with your speculation.

Although I think BB is going to catch him if this goes on long enough, she's been doubling his # of posts per day the past week or so :p

p.s. 168 I suck :(

Internets 101:

There is no correlation between post count and suckage. They are mutually exclusive. You can suck and have a high post count or you can suck and have a low post count. Either way it's OK.

The manager got a shipment notification... meaning it could be that this bug was squashed quite a long time ago and they started shipping the new units a few days ago already.

I think the problem is that people are seeing these volume bugs and assuming that Verizon will be screwed, but don't even know when Verizon started shipping the phones in the first place.

So the phones are shipping to stores now?

So? We don't have any confirmation of when the LTE handsets went into mass-production, and whether or not they had fixed the bug before or after that. Plus, this is only a bug on the HSPA+ version at this point, so it may not even be a problem on the LTE version at all...

Again, all speculation on my part, so don't hold me against it.

Alright, ive been using the phone now for bout an hour and im very impressed. First thing that hit me was the physical size of the device. It is big. Coming from an HTC Desire i can say that its going to take some getting used to. Although it is bulky, it feels light as a feather. Certainly lighter than the Desire.

Turning the phone on, i can honestly say my jaw hit the floor. Crisp, bright and beautiful. Ive watched a few youtube videos, and came away majorly impressed. One thing to note is that video playback on youtube uses the full screen like it would a video that is playing of your internal memory.

Speaking of memory, i bagged the 16GB version, no option for the 32GB. 13GB is free from the get go, and all apps are saved on the internal disc, therefore you do have access it seems to all 13GB for your apps, games etc. USB transfer is a wierd subject, my Mac never recognised the device in MTP or PTP. On Windows however you do get the option of viewing the memory as a normal USB stick.

Not going to bore you with an unboxing as im sure you've all seen the videos around the net. One thing that struck me is the bundled headphones are actually quite decent, though not a par on my Munitios. There is a button on the right wire that im assuming answers calls, but when the phone isn't ringing it stops the song. No option to skip using volume controls unfortunately, as these are used for volume changing funnily enough. You can however change and pause the tracks from the lockscreen. There are music controls in the notification menu, skip forward, pause, and stop track.

So far i've managed to download Facebook and Twitter, and log in sucessfully thus far, and syncing i have to say struck me as very fast. Certainly better than the Desire.

Really impressed so far, though i do have the niggling feeling in the back of my mind about the volume bug. I havent experienced it, but i havent used the phone out in the real world yet. I do plan on rooting just not until this bug is fixed, be it with software or hardware updates.

Excuse the quality, they were taking using a cheap digital camera.

Heres an example of the Nexus camera used straight out of the box indoors. Very impressed.

Oh boy.

Just got off the phone with my sister.

She says that the "bug reports" are BS. Supposedly it's "corporate crap". I asked her what that means, and she said that they are holding back the release because they want to, not because they have to. She says that dates have been set, only to be pushed back again.

She says that yes, the phone is even now still in testing, but most phones are, up until they release. Supposedly they found some bugs but were able to patch them with OTA updates, and even people within Verizon are getting a little pissy about the release date getting pushed back.

One guy told her they want to "maximize" device sales and that SGN will have a good December.

Well, the conversation between Han and his sister was situated around the possibility that the phones were on their way to Verizon and should have been deployed to stores by now.
I would go back and search for the post, but Han posts way too much for that to be a reasonable endeavor. ;)

It would make sense that the LTE phones be produced after the "world" phones given the more focused market.

Either way I think we're on the same page that the bug we're talking about is related to the Verizon Software which provides no reason for there being a delay to the phone. Only a delay to the release of the software. This takes us back to the fact that Verizon is stupid for trying to push their software where it doesn't need to be. They're trying to "stay relevant" as a service when they're only failing miserably in an effort to play catch-up.

The woman who sold my wife her Bionic was strongly urging her to use the backup software. I responded with "Google backs up contacts already." Her response was "Verizon's is better." I laughed. She shut up.

You may be able to modify your headset button "behavior" with headset droid. If you're so inclined. Also IF they support ICS. I have a pair of Klipsch that were meant for an iPhone, and I use them with my Android phone.

I am sure you all have figured this out by now but below is the info quoted directly from Samsung Telecom America sent to my cellular provider then forwarded to me referencing a rumor that I forwarded him (cellular provider) and from him to her.

Still no technical approval. It will not launch this week. I saw the same rumor on Gizmodo too. I’ll keep you posted when I know more.

Keep in mind, it's in Canada, which means Canadian dollars...
Nevermind, I just realized it's actually less than that in USD. Yeah maybe you're right.

No, the Canadian dollar is stronger than the USD. Go back to class and stop reading the forums. Srsly. Chime in after your homework is done tonight.
