I highly recommend purchasing through BB. As I mentioned many posts ago I only deal with BB and VZW telesales avoiding the poor service at my local VZW corporate store. I encourage you to cruise over and check it all out. I have had great luck with the buy back program when it was free, may be worth considering. I am premier silver so I get 45 days to return any purchase. This does not include any extension to the VZW 14 day contract policy, that still remains.

Good luck and let me know if you have any questions.

Since you're familiar, i have a question. Does a non-silver customer have 30 day exchange, 14 day cancel?

I just got off the phone with "Yathrib from the Executive Office of Verizon". It was a return call about the e-mails I had sent to John Bianchi (Vice President - National Customer Service). I don't know how Han got so lucky because I wasn't able to get anything out of the call.

1. I was told to wait. I could purchase a refurb phone or borrow one from a friend, but they were unwilling to do anything to help make the waiting easier.

2. It was my own fault that I was paying for a data plan that was not of much use on my current phone. I could have upgraded at any time (and be forced to wait that much longer for what I really wanted).

3. I would never be happy because there will always be some better thing right around the corner.

As far as the release of the Nexus goes, she went so far as to say that Verizon couldn't announce the phone because until there is an official announcement they don't even really know for sure that they WILL be getting the phone. When I pointed out that there had already been an official announcement from Verizon on that point, she kind of side-stepped. She did that a lot actually. I didn't get a clear response on the return policy either. I tried to point out that the return policy on their website did not jive with the CSR I had talked to saying that it was only on unactivated phones. I probably could have pushed harder, but I was trying to hold my tongue and keep the tone pleasant.

I have her phone number that she said I could call with any questions, but considering she didn't really answer any of the ones I asked today, I probably won't bother.

I just remembered though that she did at least promise to text me when the phone was released. I have a feeling I will know about it before her though (from reading this forum).

That stinks. I guess I always assumed it was the

First of all, Thank you Rob for helping, and also lending your name to the effort. It means a lot to me, and the rest of the forum members for you to do that. It really enhances the community when from the top to the bottom we can feel like we are all on the same page.

That being said, Verizon showed on the RAZR chat that they were sticking to the company line, and weren't going to stray. It's disappointing when a company sees how the tech community is reacting and decides it doesn't matter. But furthermore they are letting leaks, rumors, and false information to set the mood, instead of leading the wave of enthusiasm and encouraging a positive introduction to possibly the best phone to ever grace Verizon's airwaves. And they are coming off as the bad guys because of it.

I personally don't care when it comes out, but uncertainty will lead some people to make decisions they will be upset about later, and others to leave, both having a bad taste in their mouths after dealing with Verizon. But I do think you have done all you can, personally and professionally, to get an answer, and to give Verizon a chance to save face. Thanks for your help.

Question: How can verizon drop the Nexus title if the boxes are all printed up??

This is gonna go against what I was saying earlier but what if they haven't even actually started mass producing it yet, in which case what boxes are you talking about :p

I'm not saying it won't be called the Nexus but you don't necessarily know that the boxes are printed up ;)

Really need an answer sometime tonight on this :( If someone could be so kind to provide some insight PLEASE :(

Okay, so, I wanted to confirm this theory that has been discussed and double check something because of upcoming questions about Christmas items being directly toward me this holiday season.

My intention is to purchase the Nexus, but, my fiance wants to give me a gift card to Amazon (which will almost completely cover the purchase price under contract of the phone). Here is the catch... I have a current contract and have a year left.

I've heard you can purchase a new smartphone with a new line of service. Get the data plan for it (account is grandfathered in for unlimited), and then move a dumbphone onto the exisiting line that I have, and remove all services from it.. essentially paying an extra $10/mo until the contract is up in a year for that line.

Is this possible, and, if so, can I make the purchase through Amazon when the Nexus becomes available?

Thanks for any advice!

If you're not super worried about the couple days I think you're alright. I've heard some people have said it's taken a couple days to get the upgrade restored.

Say it comes out on the 28th? If you're not worried about waiting till the 1st or 2nd to get it you're probably alright. I personally don't have experience with best buy. I'm just trying to bring up any reason you might want to wait.

The Best Buy rep has had to call VZW and get the upgrade reset in the system for me a few times while I was there in the store, no big deal for all involved.

I'm pretty sure that you won't get grandfathered in if you open an entirely new line on the family plan... not sure though. Just call customer support!

My plan is to return the razr after 10 days and go back to a flip phone until the nexus comes out. Why wouldn't my upgrade be restored once I return it?

WARNING!

If you have unlimited data now, you will LOSE it if you EVER drop it! That's my understanding. They will restore you, alright: to tiered data.

You could always go to a place like Swappa, get a cheap smartphone to use until Nexus is released, and then sell it again (or keep it as a spare).

Stickers.
Seriously.
We've made mistakes in marketing material at work, and all the poor low level employees spend their quiet time sticking stickers with the correct info over the mistake.
Or, maybe they don't give a crap.
Is it going to stop any of us from buying it?

The DInc had boxes that said "HTC Incredible" at launch and "Droid Incredible" later IIRC.

But, yeah, the ad is outdated.

Yup, I still have my HTC Incredible box :) (my mom's box said Droid Incredible when she got it a few months later). I guess this is considered a rare collector's item then? :p
