Congrats! Although I can't help but see the name Asus and think Wal-Mart (not that Wal-Mart is inherently bad. I shop there all the time, just not for electronics). I want to like it but maybe I'm just too uneducated about the Asus name brand.

So question about the Nexus Prime name. Could they have changed the name calling it the Nexus Prime and give us 32gb and Galaxy Nexus for everyone else would be 16gb? No matter what they call it I will be calling it Nexus hunny.

Grats! I got my Thrive a few months ago, and LOVE it! That, coupled with a good smartphone, really is a nice combo for mobile computing. I, like you, sold my iPad2 also (I sold mine about 8 weeks after getting it, and was GLAD to do so!)

Congrats! Although I can't help but see the name Asus and think Wal-Mart (not that Wal-Mart is inherently bad. I shop there all the time, just not for electronics). I want to like it but maybe I'm just too uneducated about the Asus name brand.

Asus = Premiere hardware and support.

I used Asus motherboards exclusively when it was beneficial to build your own computer.

I tried out the transformer recently. It was excellent. I decided to wait for a tablet.

Yep, the volume is all over the place when you make calls on 2G, and it's quite annoying when it mutes itself in your pocket.

Thanks, I was not familiar with ASUS either but did some research and seems like a pretty decent product. I watched a number videos on Youtube with the tablet and keyboard together and thought it was awesome. The Transformer 1 has pretty good following as well. The T2 gets pretty good reviews and is scheduled to Ice Cream Sandwich very soon after the new year and if I'm not mistaken the first Android to do so. Here is a review from CNET, I know not great souce but it is a good basic run down.

DSCR is right, ASUS is one of the few brand names I trust when buying computer motherboards. Just don't confuse it with Acer

I would consider it pretty choppy, viewed on a 27in imac. There is a lot going on in the video, it seems to focus on element fairly quickly, but frame rate seems low. But since it is a phone, I think it looks awesome!

It's not that bad. It's outdoors on one of those cloudy days where the sun is kind of bright but still behind clouds, and it looks like the major difficulty is in adjusting to different levels of light. It's very dark in some parts, then fine, then dark again.

For a phone, it looks really nice, actually. I don't know if people were expecting Blu-Ray quality recording since it says 1080p. But I don't see anything to be really disappointed in here.

Honestly, it looked FINE to me. Video from tower bridge (I think) in London. I viewed it at 1080p full screen on my laptop, and I thought it was smooth, crisp, and the colors looked good. I specifically noted the blue of tower bridge, which looked right (and I've seen the bridge in person). The video was lousy when they were looking down the bridge towards the low sun, but that's really more a photography issue than a quality of the camera issue if you ask me.

I would be completely satisfied if that was my vacation video from London.

Whats with all the talk about renting phones and the return policy?

Is it supposed to be cool these days to rip Verizon off by depreciating one of their devices just because you want a new phone right now while you wait for the GN?

I seem to understand this forum does not condone discussion of tethering via hacking ware. Is this not some kind of Mal method or procedure?

To me getting a device just so one can play with it will cause more harm than good. After they have had enough Verizon will just massage their return policy to the point that folks with legit reason's for returning a device will suffer. And I will not blame Verizon for doing it.

My guess is they will shorten it by 5 day first.

Hmm, I respectfully disagree. Remember, Verizon doesn't really make money on selling the actual handset...they make money off of the contract you sign. They could care less what smartphone you purchase...as long as you buy one. If that means that you buy a RAZR, return it, buy a Rezound, return it, and get a Nexus...it's still just one contract.

However, you can factor in agreements and contracts with handset carriers such as Motorola. It sounds like they have a joint marketing agreement with DROID handsets and so Verizon is more inclined to sell DROID handsets. But I'm guessing it's just to the extent of marketing.

Also, I heard (on this forum) that Verizon always institutes an extended return policy during the holidays to allow customers more flexibility for returns. At the end of the day, it brings in more customers because they feel comfortable with the fact that they can return handsets if they want to.

They know what's going on and they've already calculated the potential ramifications of refurbished handsets.

P.S. If you think about it, it creates another potential market that reaches more customers. There are a certain number of customers out there who purchase phones based on price. Some people don't mind a slightly used, but perfectly functioning phone for free over the same phone for $100. Not everyone shops smartly (like taking advantage of the Amazon Wireless sale going on right now) but still want to save...
