You're right. I'd forgotten they brought Martz in after Orton was gone. Good catch.

But all in all, I still think you're playing for the Bronze. My wife is from Wisconsin...

Yeah, the cheese heads are on a tear right now. I'm thinking they'll probably try to go for 16-0, which they should. Being a Bears fan, I don't hate the Packers, and Aaron Rodgers is a humble, elite QB (which is pretty rare).

I just hope they get creamed in the NFC championship game if the Bears are in it. ;)

Off topic - is the app loading reeeeeaallllllllyyyyyyyy slow for anyone else?

I thought it was just my troublesome DX, but I often have the app get stuck loading the forum pages, the news pages, etc.. but I have that happen on a lot of apps that are accessing the internet so I chalk it up to my phone being stubborn.

I'm glad it's not just me.

When you have this problem, it's either the app or the website. If it's the app, just go into settings-apps and do a force close on Phandroid and it'll be fine after that.

:)

Yep. But what I don't understand is why Verizon did away with the option of one-year contracts. Now there are only two choices: two-year contract with subsidy, or no contract and full retail.

I can see myself upgrading my phone once a year, but I don't think I'd ever do it more often than that. So a one-year contract would be perfect for me. Actually, since I'm about to jump aboard the Nexus train, I could see myself upgrading to each new Nexus.

It reminds me of the way hot dogs and hot dog buns are sold. Hot dogs typically come in packs of ten, while buns come in packs of eight. So you always run out of one before the other. Same thing here: for anyone who wants to stay reasonably current, the shelf life of a smartphone is maybe a year, but the contracts lock you in to two years. Which means that we'll spend half our lives hating our phones and wishing we could upgrade!

Verizon wants everyone on two year contracts. They don't care if you have the latest phone, the only reason they offer good phones at all is because they have to in order to keep people from switching when their contract is up.

For "media" consumption and light typing. I can see a tablet being much easier to use in some settings. Laying on the couch or in a bed. My laptop is a pain in those settings. I don't have a tablet but I think it'd be a lot easier to deal with/use.

I find it much more conducive to sleep deprivation to have my iPad in bed to check here and play WWF. The laptop is too big and unwieldy.

Verizon, why must you constantly disappoint us! Just release a date already! ****(Insert your favorite four letter word here)!!!!!

To all those who are going to try to flame me for bitching about Verizon again don't bother I don't care. Just expressing my frustration.

But my favorite word is 9 letters.

As for waiting, unless something changes with my current phone i just WANT the Nexus, i don't have to get it. So it's irritating having to put my instant gratification on hold but it won't kill me. (yet)

I'd be happy if you could upgrade at a "reduced" discount after one year even if they didn't bring back 1 year contracts. They used to do this also.

That's what I'd like to see back again

I don't understand the purpose of a tablet like the Transformer Prime. Is it just the screen size? Why not use a laptop?

The GNex will have essentially equal or better specs than most tablets.

Good afternoon, Nexaholics!
I have a follow on question...can the transformer prime be connected to a secondary monitor as well, cause my issues are screen size and power. I want something that could be used as a substitute for a desktop for audio/ sound editing stuff. Reason I have held off until now is tablets were well underpowered/ limited compared to PC's..Is this no longer the case with something like the Prime?

It's a QB game these days and they have the best one. I think one loss does a team good in the big picture, but I also think they have a good chance to make the Dolphins put away the champagne (at least I hope so).

If I worked for VZW marketing i'd sell the Gnex on "Cyber Monday" as an online exclusive, then sell it in stores on the 1st (or 8th). I, unfortunately, do not work for VZW marketing

They just showed with the Illusion they are willing to offer an online only phone for a decent amount of time, maybe you are right...

The Dinc2 wasn't very impressive in battery life to me until I rom'd it with MIUI. Now it's pretty decent.

If I decide to go the Prime route, I may just ask Verizon if I can keep the Dinc2 until I decide to upgrade, whenever that might be. It's a really nice phone. :)

Did it come with strings attached? I assumed it was yours to keep.

It was still much better service than I got from my letter to corporate, even if you have to send it back.

Actually, now that I think about it, if the SGN doesn't come out until the very end of the year, I may just spend my money on the Transformer Prime and wait til late Spring to get something presented at CES.

Hoping that Verizon gets its act together is exhausting.

This is what ive been debating since the SGN missed the Nov 17th target date. If my current phone dies in the meantime, I'll buy a cheap replacement off contract til I find a suitable replacement.

Just so everyone knows, this is a RANDOM thought I had, hehe. I didn't get this from anyone at Verizon, just dreaming of marketing ways to get the phone even earlier!

Yes, they said that once I upgrade to the SGN, to return it. They also mailed me a return fedex thing to put it in. I have the full intention of honoring that, but if the SGN doesn't come out for another month, I may ask them to let me hold onto it a bit longer.

But I'm not sure.

Maybe things will depend on what type of a bonus I get this year. But I know my wife won't like me spending big money on two items. :(
