***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I took a look at the "Galaxy Nexus: Getting Started" videos on YouTube. They have one for both the US and International versions of the phone. The US version has a different looking battery and the Verizon logo on the back, so I think it is fairly safe to assume that it is LTE.

Both versions look pretty much the same to me color-wise. Although the silver edging is much less pronounced than previous GSM version pictures.

I did the best I could to capture screenshots of the phones from a side view. The images aren't perfectly clear due to the speed in which they turned around the phone, but I think we can get a decent idea from them. I also tried to overlay the two images. The angle wasn't exactly the same though so it makes the US version look bigger than I think it actually is.

More views of US version captured from video.

I kinda like the burnt look to it. It actually looks to me like the SR-71 of Smartphones. Thin, Long and Fat in the back (giggity) Im really hoping it looks like those renderings, i really dont like the greyish.

Let's nip this in the bud now. The store is called "A Wireless", which is a premium re-seller, NOT a VZW corporate store. They're able to just print out any price for any imaginary unit they want to "pre-order". It's not a true pre-order.

I'm not saying the guy who ordered it like that won't get it, but there's no release timing information we can glean from it. All they're basically saying is that at whatever point in time in the future the SGN is released, you'll get yours from us. One of our folks in this thread actually did the same thing with a different retailer. I think it was sweatyBeef.

Thank you, that's exactly what I was trying to say in the original post.

Edit: Actually, I think that is the same exact invoice, but I could be mistaken. A barely skimmed through that series of posts, because I never believed it until we confirmed it was an authorized retailer, and all of them can let as many customers preorder as they would like to, they just can't guarantee a delivery date.

Yeah that's the reason why I don't plan on getting a loaner. I have been tempted though.

Thats how my wife talked me out of it though.... although I am buying her a RAZR tonight through that penny pincher sale amazon has. It was a tough choice, and she got upset at me last night when i was talking to her about the differences between the Rezound and Razr, but when we went to Verizon today to choose, she couldnt decide. She has a Inc now, and she likes the ease of use on the Rezound and the feel and screen and camera. But the screen on the razr and the thinness (and her first phone was a razr) won her over. Im overall happy about her choice...

*she isnt a canidate for the Gnex... like I said she has a Inc and it just got GB a week or so ago... she doesnt let me touch it lol

for the 1000th time, the return policy lasts until Jan 15. you have 14 days from the time you activate your device to cancel your account, but that 14 days has nothing to do with you returning/exchanging a device. this is what was stated to me by the VZ rep WITHOUT me asking when i got my razr. he even circled the date on my receipt and noted it on my account. anyone telling you that it is 14 days to return the phone is either just trying to avoid you "renting" one or is misinformed.

Now, what really floored me was the RAM in the Rezound (admittedly didn't look at the Razr's RAM usage). I stumbled upon Sense's app manager (or whatever) and was shocked to see almost 700MB of RAM in use. The browser was using 100MB and there were a couple dozen other things running so I hit the Kill All button.

W...T...F...

With the RAM "cleared" out, this phone is using 484MB out of the gate with 343MB available. Are you kidding me? Is Sense THAT much of a pig, or is Android really using THAT much RAM? I sincerely hope this isn't the case in the SGN. This is exactly why I don't like bloating up the phones with custom UIs. Yeah, they're nice, but you can't remove them and putting a custom UI over top of it only serves to suck down more memory. Just my 2 cents. :)

On my Razr, with a whole bunch of tasks running in the background (including Google Music, the phandroid App, Tasker, a few widgets, and Touchdown), I have 347mb of RAM in use. My old Droid X with almost nothing active anymore (since it presently has no network access) is running at around 230mb of RAM in use.

Considering how much more I'm asking my Razr to do at the moment I don't see that increase in memory as significant... ;)

Almost 700mb of RAM in use initially on the Rezound? Hmm... either someone installed something that really chews up memory or there has gotta be something not kosher with that particular handset!

Hi fellow Gnexers!

I would like to congratulate everyone on ONE MILLION + views and now we're only 1200 posts away from becoming the #1 thread in AF history. And we've done it with great civility and rare good grace, thanks to Steven58 and the other Mods.

Have I missed anything while in real life all day? Likely not :(

Great excitement in the air, turkey tomorrow, records to break and a great Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend coming up will help time fly as we wait for Nexus to come out.

So what do we have left? A mere 15 days?

depends who you talk to. a friend of mine who works at the local vzw corporate store stands firm that the return policy only allows for return of phones that have not been activated(something bought as a gift), and that regular purchase and activations are still subject to the 14 day return window

Your friend is wrong.. Fortunately. The 14 day window is ONLY if you want to cancel the line, has nothing to do with the device.

VZW employees are about as credible as my 2 year old pug.

You can say it as many times as you want but the non believers will not listen ;)

Agreed, I have seen about 6 chat logs posts showing you have till jan. 15th (moved from jan. 9th) to return/exchange your device. I haven't seen one stating anything about activation date being a condition.
