Does anyone have any plans to make a better interface for the market? I think something Apple done well is create a great market area. I hate going into Android Market because I have no idea what some of the apps do, there are no screenshots, it is dingy and the explanation of the apps is more than useless in most cases. Some of them I may even need, but not being able to view them any better or have a more clear understanding of their uses, I simply pass them by. I realize androlib.com is out there but it is not much better. With the growing use of apps, this is a huge business and will only get larger.. Someone needs to take some pride in their creation ( im speaking about the market ) and make it a more friendly place to visit. Its kind of like going to my favorite store in the most dangerous part of town..

Anyone else have this problem?

My god, would everyone stop drooling over Apple? The App Store is complete trash and utterly useless. Yeah, you get a desktop client and longer reviews. Cool. At the same time you can't browse all applications, you can't browse by "top" unless you only want to see 100 apps, etc etc etc.

One weakness (and strength) lies with the app developers (not the interface). I agree, If the app developer writes a good description it grabs my attention. When the name of the app and description do not give a clue of function, I just pass it by. Many developers would do themselves a service by paying closer attention to how the present their apps on the market. The great thing about the market is if you pay for it and don't like it, uninstall and get a refund within the allotted time. the responsibility is not with Google, but those putting their wares for all to see.

This may not solve the problems, but at least it makes shopping for apps easier.

Go to AndroLib, Find all applications and games available in the Android Market for your Android Phone, HTC Dream, HTC Magic etc... . There you can do a search on a keyword, and if it appears in the app's description, it'll show up in the search. Then you can return to the Market on your Droid and download it.

I have no idea if it contains ALL Android apps, or as many as the Market, but it makes FINDING apps a lot easier.

One - I dont see anywhere that I was drooling over anything.. But if you dont like it being compared to Apple, then how about windows marketplace or RIM's. Dont really care which one you compare it to, it sucks from an information standpoint and graphic interface.. I agree with some above, maybe the developers need to add some marketing but in the end, the market, nor the apps will not succeed if people dont go in there, if they dont know what the apps do or if they dont know how to use them. I see it all over the place in there. People not knowing how to use an app, and uninstalling, before revenue makes to the developers.

The developers that hang out here and other similar forums are the smart ones. They promote their apps, answer questions, listen to recommendations, and tailor their apps to our needs. That leads to positive, constructive feedback on the Market which then attracts others (the mainstreem usaer that has never engaged in these type interactions). The adage "Build it and they will come" does not apply in this world. It takes some legwork. No, the Market is far from the ideal venue, but it is what it is and places like this help take up the slack.
