Root USB Tether for MIUI and App Question

Happy Thanksgiving All!

Just got my Triumph less then 24 hours and I have already rooted and upgrade the ROM to MIUI! Everything is working great and it was so easy to do. Big thanks to all the contributors to the forum that makes this possible. Now I am just 2 questions away from getting everything I could ever wanted... :p

1. USB/Wireless Tethering: I saw where I can turn USB tethering on in Settings but when I connect the cable to the laptop nothing happens. What do I need to do on the Windows 7 side to make it recognize Triumph as an internet modem?

2. Apps Question: Before I moved to MIUI I noticed the stock Virgin Gallery application had automatically linked to my Picsas account and I had all my pictures right there. However, MIUI's Gallery doesn't do that (or at least I haven't figure out how to set it up to Picasa). In Marketplace I couldn't find a Picsa app either. Is there anyway for me to get that app from my backup to replace the Gallery in MIUI?

Thanks again for everyone's help. Enjoy turkey day!

For your question 1, our MIUI port doesn't have native wireless tethering yet. It was just recently added to cm7. And if Isaac ever releases another version, he MAY port that in as well; obviously it's up to him if he wants to put in the effort to do that.

I haven't tried this, but you may be able to get 3rd party apps such as barnacle or the wifi tether app from the market to work. I believe that the built-in kernel supports IP tables. At the very least, the mOCk kernel does if you need to flash that; I'm not positive about the Speed demon kernel; you'll need to ask in that thread.

In the meantime, if you want native hotspot tethering, go with CM7 for now.

For question 2: sorry, I don't know the answer.

Edit: Apparently USB tethering works according to AtticTron below.
