Alright here i go. Ive had my droid for a while and with all the recent teasers for 2.1 and praise given to the sholesrom i have decided to flash sholes 2.0.5 to my droid.

The few questions i have are:

1. Will i retain my apps and/or should i make backups with astro first?

2. Will i retain verizon authentication?

3. Will i retain my contacts?

I know these are probably noob questions and i will become more fluent as i go but i just want to be sure before i go with it. Testing the waters per se.

I hope to hear from someone omniscient on the subject soon.

Thanks.

I didnt know if it worked like my gf's droid eris, she had to do a factory reset and it wiped her authentication and she had to call in to verizon to get the code again.

I plan use SMupdater to do it i just havent gotten up the balls to go through with it. Im afraid ill mess something up lol. I handled jailbreaking my ipod touch no prob so here goes.

I can tell you were to get SetCPU as well.

Yea, from the market. If your just giving out links to a paid app that is considered warez. The only place that the dev gives it out for free is another forum which you must be a member of to download it, and I am sure he wouldn't appreciate everyone joining just to avoid paying for the app. Does everyone realize how valuable that app is? Without it we would have no control over our clock speed, he deserves the small small amount of money he asks for it.

Well, i have successfully rooted and flashed Sholes 2.0.5 via SMupdater and WOW! I dont know what i was so scared of, its was as easy as 1-2-3 with SMupdater. I currently having my droid running at a smooth and cool 800mhz and wow what a difference. I really love the 3D gallery as well, it makes looking through my photos that much more fun.

The only reason I said that was because I had issues downloading it from the market when I went to buy it. I wanted to let the user know where to get it if he had issues downloading it from the market. I am going to pay for it once I can get it from the market.

CRP, you really need to calm down, you seem to assume a lot from people on these forums.

Yea, he (the dev) gave permission to put them in. Also I want to apologize if I came off rude to anyone in this thread yesterday, that wasn't my intention. I stand by what I said but I just want to make it clear none of it was meant to be taken on a personal level. Just getting a little tired of all the dev's leaving Android because of warez, and how easy it is to steal apps, heck you can do it right on the market.
