Root ICS on Evo 4G?

Do you mean stable ROMs? If you're talking stable and 100% functional then I'm taking the over. But if you are just talking alphas and betas then I'll take the under. Only time will tell though!

i guess when i say "start seeing" i mean alpha's and beta's. i think stable might be too soon. but who knows the devs are just so talented that i would not doubt them at all. and like you said time will tell.

I'm all over that action! Absolutely be taking the under for Christmas. :D
It would be a heck of a Christmas present. I have a lot of faith in the CM dev team, so nothing would shock me. Stable builds will be a ways off though. I don't know when CM7 began development, but it took like 5 months at least to get a CM7 stable build.

here is the link to ics rom I found it runs great is stable and everything works great enjoy and thank the dev. and there is a video above the link on the page so you can check it out first but here you go.

Ice Cream Sandwich ROM for Rooted HTC Evo 4G! | HTC Evo 4G Hacks!

yeah this has already been linked earlier by somebody else. it is not a full ICS rom. it is just cm7 with some of the stuff that was pulled off of the ics sdk code that was release a few weeks ago. some of the roms now have pulled some ics elements off and added it to their rom. the new xplod rom has some ics cooked in as well.

just trying to help and best one i found

always appreciate the help. i just did not want you to think that it was an actual ICS rom. we should start seeing some devolpment on ICS roms very soon. i think soemone mentioned that team Nocturnal who develops the xplod rom will make the next update of xplod into a full ics rom. not sure on the eta, but i think sometime before xmas, i hope.

I'm with you granite, I'll take the under:)

I hope so this rom is pretty awesome and I cant wait for a real ics rom

Source code ICS rom is pretty nice and with the release of 2 alphas in 2 days and now that we have working GApps, it looks like a solid beta and possibly a stable rom before the end of the year is inevitable:D

It is going to need gapps? That because CM is doing it and they can't include the stuff?

tia for the info!

Not sure of the exact reasoning for the GApps not being included but they will more than likely always be separate. Flash ICS build first, flash GApps second

well i can at least tell you why cm7 has gapps separate. so when the cm team started to develop roms using the google source code for the android os (forgot which version, i think eclair), google sent them a cease and decists letter statiing that any google apps can't be included in the intial build of the rom, but that they can include a file that is flashable. thus was born the gapps file.

not sure why other roms do it as well. maybe it is fear of google. but, the xplod rom has gapps cooked in, so i'm not really sure why the devs still do it.

I think the gapps will always be separate in 3rd party ROMs because they are proprietary whereas android core is open source. This was the reason behind Google forcing the CM team to separate them from CM ROMs.

Yeah though I had read something somewhere that stated this. They were distrubiting "GAPPS" Without permission.

Proprietary must DIE. well not really just more or less on paper :D:D:D

Xplod actually has a gapps file I believe they also stopped cooking it in

Yeah, I hate it too. But, there are compatibility prerequisites that need to be met before being allowed to bundle the android market. Google has a FAQ about this here.

Excerpt:
"Android Market is only licensed to handset manufacturers shipping devices."

my question then is what about sense roms? never found a reason for why sense roms have the gapps stuff included. why is sense different? is it because of htc?
