***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I have seen phenomenal pictures with the GNex camera, and I have seen horrendous pictures taken with the GNex camera. A lot of that comes down the user, lighting conditions, etc... All of his other "negatives" in that article have been refuted by dozens of others in comparable articles, so I;m not worried about that. The real negative, which seems to be universally agreed upon, is the 1080P video recording. That is definitely sub par from what I have seen. Who knows - maybe that is an issue that can be remedied with an OTA

You know, we had this same all-over-the-place performance with the camera when the Evo 3D first came out.

I found out that for whatever the real cause was, just resetting the phone made the bad pictures go away and the good ones come back.

That suggested to me that there was some sort of interaction with other stuff running (and with all of the image-related stuff I'm constantly running, no telling what it was).

So, that's a back-pocket tip - something to keep in your back pocket until needed - for when the Nexasaurus comes out and any bad photos happen.

Hope this will help.

BTW - it's also the reason I am constantly defending phones against bad reviews. Their goal is to meet a deadline and just push buttons. Ours is users helping users overcome or work around issues like this - and many of the negatives I've seen on reviews are just not real. IOW - we want to take good pictures and will work with new kit to see what's what. They just want to do A/B comparisons and declare race-horse winners.

I'm not hopeful, based on the picture here: Galaxy Nexus accessories shows official dock, car dock & battery ... but I'm really spoiled on my OG Droid's car dock's ability to be used in landscape or portrait mode. That is a mouthful. Anyway, my concern is that I'd love to stick with Samsung branded accessories, or ones I can buy at the Verizon stores with my discount, but I've totally gotten used to using GPS in portrait mode (shows more of the road ahead, or maybe it's all in my head).

Maybe I'll actually keep a case on this phone, in which case I'll need a different car mount, anyway... Do we think Seidio will make something for the Nexus, with its ports in new weird positions? Or perhaps make a mount that uses the pogo pins?
Well, most car docks are on a type of ball joint, so I do not see why you cannot have the phone in portrait mode.

Edit: and this car dock doesn't say but it does say "Fully Adjustable, Multi-Angle Neck".

They're one of our nice vendor-members (because they're helpful and don't spam people).

How about somebuddy drops them a PM, here's their page - Android Forums - View Profile: seidioseidio

And ask them to chime in here? :)

I'd do it, but I'm busy doing mod PMs, so go for it, imo.

I had a convoy with them not too long ago about Nexus cases. A few weeks ago... Maybe 2, they didn't know which ones or when even the Cases would be out, and not sure if thy have a game plan for other accessories yet. But please let us know what you hear!

ICS is the first android firmware to allow use of both cores, correct?

Incorrect. Either that, or someone forget to tell my own GS2 as it happily runs both cores when required. I believe Android 4.0 is the first version to properly utilise the full capabilities of multi-core processors, however.

I think what is going on is that people are taking the "zero-lag shutter" thing a bit too far in thinking that you can shoot well-focused pictures with zero lag.

Personally, I think it is an option to get in quick shots when you need to, but that doesn't provide for the best picture quality. So what we don't know in these tests is whether or not the shooter is focusing the camera, or just pressing the button and taking advantage of the zero lag shutter.

The iphone on the other hand will always do a little focus before the shot.

To be consistent, the Nexus should always be focused as well before shooting.

That being said, I am guessing that the iphone has a better camera, but I think that the Nexus will still be pretty good. The first leaked pics and video I saw were fantastic on the Nexus. But the most recent reviews show really disappointing photos.

Meh. Flirting is natural. You're married, not dead. But I'm not typical in my thinking so I just usually keep my mouth shut when in mixed company. You guys are like family though so I knew I could throw my 2 cents in.
The fight thing is funny. I'm not sure I'd have stayed on the bus, but I guess you had to be there.

Depends on who the female is, and my husband would know which ones I wouldn't appreciate him helping. :) I'm actually sending him out with my best friend tonight...her husband is working, and I'm sick, so they're going out together. LOL

My take is this: I don't know when I'm actually flirting. I joke around a TON, as you guys can tell, and sometimes girls will laugh a little bit "excessively", and I milk it. Is it flirting? Probably. I don't know. But after too much of that, she'll start getting irritated.

I made her stay on the bus. I wasn't going to have her walk 2 miles in heels. Although I only ended up walking like a quarter mile before I hitchhiked the rest of the way. (Yeah, they still do that down there, and it's still safe enough.)

As far as my wife goes, I don't mind her being all giggly with my friends. But I think I know where I am on the attractiveness scale. If she gets a little too chatty or giggly with someone at least 2 points higher than me, I give her the stink eye or butt in on the conversation and gradually nudge her away. :p

On topic:

How bout that Nexus, eh?

As far as the camera situation goes, I know all of this stuff can be relative, so I'm wondering if we are splitting hairs or do we think it is a legitimate problem? Like, is it going to be on par with my TB camera, which I'm really pleased with or are we concerned that it will be a step in the wrong direction? Thanks.

Splitting hairs on still images. Not so sure about the 1080P video recording though. If we all had the phone we could be working this out right now

Thanks. Does anyone know where the TB camera stands as far as picture quality goes? I don't mean to beat a dead horse but if the TB's was considered middle of the road, I think I will be happy with the SGN's camera.
