Biggest Flaw/Pet Peeve?

#1 The keyboard, i got the phone because of the keyboard and i type twice as slow on that as i do on the screen keyboard. I find it very tricky whereas i used to type really fast on BB Bold.

#2 Having to hold the phone right up to your mouth else the person on the other end can't hear you. With my hero i could sit it on my laptop and talk away whilst working but i can't on the milestone. But i know you're not supposed to use a phone like that so hardly fair to call it a problem! :)

#3 Text on webpages not re-flowing like they do on hero, i miss that a lot.

#4 Extremely loud camera shutter and focus sounds! What the hell is that all about? I've given up trying to get photos of my pets with it because the focus bleep freaks them out and makes them stop what they were doing, very annoying.

If you download Dolphin Browser from the market (free) it flows text properly.

If you turn the ringer volume down to nothing (use the down volume rocker when you are on the homescreen) there is no focus or shutter sound.

Is the keyboard really that bad? I have a HTC FUZE and had an Iphone, so are they keys that horrid compared to the FUZE and the BB?

Does the Milestone have less internal storage than the Droid? The Droid has 262 MB available for apps but I've seen some specs of the Milestone that say it only has 133 MB, can someone please clear this out? I really want to buy a Milestone but 133 is simply not enough for me, I have a Samsung Galaxy at the moment and I'm using 180MB for apps. You can view the total Internal storage by installing an app called "Quick System Info".

The keyboard is a bit like Marmite. I love mine, but other users don't! I think it's a 50:50 split.

If you are thinking of buying a Milestone, probably best to try and have a go on one first (or buy somewhere that will allow a return / refund if you don't like the keyboard). If you want an Android phone and don't care for a keyboard, the Nexus One might be a better choice.

I came from a Galaxy, and there's no beating around the bush - you do notice the difference in memory. That said, i still have ~40mb phone memory free.

However between apps2sd and the liklihood of Google making that native, i don't think it'l be a problem for too long.

I way prefer my milestone to my Galaxy.

Thanks. The Nexus looks like having the same storage space

I heard about apps2sd but I read somewhere that it can't be used on the Milestone because it requires a modified firmware to support ext2/ext3 file systems and there's a security lock that doesn't allow this.
196 MB I think it's enough for currently existing apps and hopefully Google will do something to allow installing apps to the sdcard.

And how about speed of the phone, how many apps do you keep running at a time in order to still have it run quirkless?

At first I used the Task killer to stop the apps that were runing in background, was worried about the fact that the ATK showed me that the free memory - RAM was 25 - 30... my phone was OK, speedy enought but the numbers scared me... so I periodicaly stoped the apps that apeared on ATK. Well.. my phone contradicted me and started to reboot (I had 2.0 then)... then I thought... HELLOO... you are on an ANDROID and not on Windows to free memory by yourself to make it run smootly... THE PHONE MAKE THIS FOR YOU... and it's constantly a road-runner. Till then I use the ATK rarely cose the phone frees up the memory it needs by itself and runs very good... and I have about 200 apps instaled on my phone.(of course they are not running all at the same time)

sweeet so it sounds like the phone itself is pretty fast. I am leaning toward hitting the border and picking one up soon.

I installed Advanced Task Killer soon as i got it and a couple of times the phone switched off. After doing some reading on this forum i uninstalled it and the phone hasn't switched off since and is really fast.

I also discovered tonight where the physical keyboard is really useful - as a passenger trying to text on the physical keyboard is a lot easier than the touch screen cos my fingers were sliding all over the place! :)
