Help 3.2 update for Thrive?

Yes, 3.1 which came with the Thrive. I don't intend on rooting, yet.
I'm a little (lot) outa my league here since I haven't yet tried rooting my phone let alone my Thrive, so just a quick heads up. There are a number of posts on the thriveforums site that say if you update to 3.2 you will not be able to root. Something about it removes fastboot from the recovery menu. It's all Greek to me at this point, at least until I decide to do more research. I'm just mentioning it since it sounds as if you were considering rooting eventually.

I would avoid installing 3.2 if possible. As was said you lose the fastboot ability, and you wont be able to root it from what I have read in other forums. Also there are a number of problems happening after people have updated to 3.2. I personally am not going to upgrade, unless its to 4.0 ICS. The 3.1 is working just fine for me.

I just purchased a Thrive this morning. Everything was working fine until I tried to update the system. Here's what happened.

It wanted me to update from 3.1.01.5.0032 to 3.1.31.5.0011. I did the update. It did not take long, maybe 5 minutes. The system rebooted and new version number was in the about page, so I restared the tablet like I was told to. It came back up and every think seems to be working. I even watched a you tube video about the Galaxy Nexus. I left the tablet setting for some time and when I tried to wake it up it would not come back on. Nothing I did would wake it up; the power button would not work and I could not do a system reboot.

I took it back to Bestbuy and got a replacement. I got some questions.
1. Is the update version number right?
2. Should I apply the software update.
3. Do my current version of the OS have the not coming out of sleep mode problem or does the 3.1.31.5.0011 introduce the sleep mode problem?

I the new 8gb silver version of the Thrive.

1. Is the update version number right?

That was an update version before 3.2. It introduced digital rights management that would allow paid movie downloads from Google. To do that it eliminated fastboot referred to above, but Toshiba also provided the ability to drop back to 0032.

2. Should I apply the software update.
Up to you. Some have reported a slightly better performance, but if you're not having problems, there's no compelling reason to update. If you're thinking of rooting in the future, don't update. There is a rooted version that has all of the fixes made in 0011.

3. Do my current version of the OS have the not coming out of sleep mode problem or does the 3.1.31.5.0011 introduce the sleep mode problem?
I don't believe that there is such a problem. Had you asked me, I would have told you to open the back cover, pull the battery and leave it out for a few minutes, put it back in, and restart. I think that would have got things working again.
