Help Dialer using battery?

For a while after I updated to gb I noticed the dialer was high on list of battery usage whether or not I made any calls, which doesn't make any sense, but today it's not listed at all. One thing I did noticed was that cell standby and phone idle where back where they use to be before the update. So do you guys that still have the dialer using up a lot of the battery, how high is your cell standby and phone idle?

+1 and a story as well.
Called Verizon Wednesday after having sever issues for two weeks. Dialer would use about 25% of my battery, and the battery would last around 5 hours.

There was a pattern, however. It seems like the drain only occurred after placing a call. After the call was placed, the battery would drain *until* you restarted the phone. Then battery life would return to normal, until you placed another call. Frustrated with this process, I decided to call VZ to get a replacement.

Note: I am already on my 3rd T-bolt since early June.

So after talking to the representative at VZ, who was very helpful, we conference-called a rep from HTC. She knew nothing about the issue, VZ rep pressed HTC about it, wouldn't budge. VZ sent me my 4th T-bolt. Asked if I could exchange the phone. VZ said their policy changed in '09 so no I can't do that without incurring a charge. oh well, 4th times a charm.

Received the 4th T-bolt this morning. Immediately before installing anything I placed a call, and waited about 3 hours to see what happened. Yep, the battery went down to about 40% with dialer using 33% of it. Wow.

So now what to do? I'm going to be calling VZ tomorrow, obviously. For reference guys, I am using android 2.3.4, software # 2.11.605.5.

Anyways, I will update this thread as soon as I know what happens tomorrow. bookmark this one strugglers!

So in an initial test, it would appear that making a single call has caused Dialer to shoot up in battery usage. I'm going to play with it a bit more and see what happens. Can't force-close it, obviously, but I cleared data on it so we'll see what happens.

In relation, are there alternative dialers we can look at to replace Dialer?

This is getting old. Some people just don't have the problem, and yet replacement phones don't seem to help. I'm getting pretty tired of this. I've tried pretty much all the fixes short of flashing a custom rom, which I don't want to do . . . nor should I have to. I email HTC, we'll see. I've read in other threads that HTC does in fact recognize this as a known issue.

It doesn't appear to be a new problem. I've been reading reports of this since the OTA. I hadn't originally noticed it. Perhaps it was always that way and I just noticed more recently, I'm not sure. It also appears to be impacting other HTC phones as well, so there may be problematic code in the dialer.

Since I have no upgrade until 2/2013, I've ordered a Rezound battery from Verizon given the $20 price and great results people are posting. This doesn't solve the problem but extra battery life is still extra battery life. I won't complain.

I have two thunderbolts and this occurs on one, but not the other (both have the most recent OTA updates). When viewing the battery usage screen on the phone that shows the problem, the dialer entry always starts as "qcrild", then quickly changes to Dialer. Not the solution, but a clue... Could this be a quality control build of rild, or simply a Qualcomm spin of it for the tbolt?
