***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

As Penguissimo already stated, I was saying it's LG's answer to the Rezound.

As for the display, you all could very well be right that it's SLCD, not IPS. In fact this page does in fact say that. It's not Pentile though.

Both Rezound and Nitro have non-pentile HD LCD. HTC uses SLCD and LG uses IPS-LCD.

Back in early Fall, there was rumor that LG is bringing Revolution 2 on VZW with spec like this Nitro in November. But since then it just dropped out from map.

Right on their front page:

Samsung SCH-i515 Galaxy Nexus (Verizon)
ESTIMATE SHIP DATE: 12/9
I know that at least Technobuffalo get their GSM version from there. I think other reviewers might have as well.

This is interesting...anyone know if Negri-elecronics is the only place giving estimates on ship/release for the LTE version?

An LG RezoundT? You did see that the Best Buy ad was incorrect, right? The Rezound is made by HTC.

Also, it's possible that I don't know enough about displays, but the Rezound's is a super LCD, whereas the Nitro has LG's AH-IPS (Advanced High-Performance In-Plane Switching) technology; no Pentile matrix, and reportedly less energy-draining.

LG makes great displays, their IPS stuff is very popular.

S-LCD is a Samsung/Sony company making mostly MVA type displays.

HTC has taken to calling just about everything Super LCD because that's a marketing term that they love. They even used that to describe the Dinc, Evo and Evo 3D - except the Dinc and Evo use the Sony-vended Samsung display and the 3D uses the Sharp Super-Mobile ASV (Advanced Super View - because we need more supers! :)). So - until we get more details, I wouldn't guarantee what sort of display the Rezound or any LCD really is.

This wiki article is dated and somewhat incomplete, but it's a good wrap up of the LCD tech types and their general relationships to one another, if anyone's interested.

TFT LCD - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anyway, that's just for fun, not for the Nexus - but maybe helpful when helping out friends and family with other Android choices or TVs or whatever.

The proof is in the viewing and what works for you, regardless of who claims what in their tech, that's my opinion.

So when it slips into 2012, they don't have to change their message.

If (when?) Verizon slips this to 2012, they'll just tweet that they never said later this calendar year, they always meant that they were talking about later this fiscal year :p

Edit: And they'll release it September 27th 2012 (still later this fiscal year), on the same day as the Droid 7, and a week after the Re-re-rezound...

Hey guys. Just got my Nexus in the mail from Expansys and I was instantly enamored with it. You guys have way more patience than me, but I can assure you it's worth it.

One thing I wanted to share that I don't remember being said yet is there's an option in the browser under "Labs" that takes away the nav bar and replaces it with a quick menu. Just swipe in from the right or left. Leaves even more room for content. I thought it was pretty cool.

So are you going AT&T or T-Mobile?

<-------------- Out of lurker mode to tell you all that I despise you! In a way that I despise my parents for calling me to tell me that "another Dunkin Donuts" shop opened up by them when I don't have a single one in my city. I want what I can't have and you all make me WANT! I say despise in the nicest possible way. It's a despise/love relationship.

My name is Irwin (but you can call me Fletch) and I am (NOW) a Nexaholic.

Official: AT&T Announces LG Nitro HD, Available Dec. 4th for $249.99

Verizon... did you see this? They are beating you both in release date and price... are you seeing this? Do you care? Are you out there?

At this point it's a bit ridiculous. People are importing full retail not necessarily because they want to switch from Verizon, but because the phone isn't here yet.

Now competitors are launching phones that at least make you hesitate.

Release the Kraken already.

Hm, I see I haven't missed anything major the past couple of days.

(save for whatever happened with Han that I don't feel like rummaging through past posts for)

I've had my Rezound for 2 weeks tomorrow and have been half loving it thus far. I say half because I haven't bothered throwing all my old apps onto it, buying any accessories, or rooting since there's the possibility of me exchanging it for a Nexus by Jan 15. In fact, that's the sole thing that kept me from returning it then just rebuying it from Amazon for a penny. (And that sale was so successful that they canceled it early due to overwhelming demand with a 5-week backorder at full price). This says a lot considering I'm about to fork over $599 for an Transformer Prime and could always stand to put $250+ back into my pocket. That being said, this GNex waiting game is starting to wear extremely thin on me now. I am sadly caring about this phone less and less with each passing week. At least with the Galaxy SII I could say I never had any interest due to the lack of a notification LED even though VZW never got it. I was already on the fence with the lack of SD and USB OTG as it was with the GNex. Now my prior excitement has been pretty much replaced with some level of apathy. I'll still play with it in a store to compare it. And, if out before mid Jan, I'll switch it if it proves to be the better device, ICS and direct updates from Google aside. Yes, I want a phone launched that's been tested and examined thoroughly enough to catch most bugs before the unit hits the shelves. And nothing was promised to us before Dec 31. But I may opt to hop off this bandwagon soon with this foggy haze we get in lieu of information. I'm taking it a day at a time. And I'll still be here rooting for you all when the phone does arrive in stores at some point in time. Perhaps I'll be among your number, perhaps I won't. But enough has to be enough at some point.

What is my propensity for getting myself involved with phones that can't seem to launch smoothly? Inc! TB! And now this!

Why oh why can't I just lust after a feature phone, haha?
