***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Interesting... Another person replied earlier and stated that it could be done and that they had done it in the past. Hmmm...

I was told by a store manager that the RAZR, Vigor and Nexus were not eligible phones because of their flagship status. This could change, but I got this info about a week ago when my dreams of having a Nexus at launch were dashed (the wife's LG Ally threw up on itself and I sprung for a Samsung Stratosphere; I was able to get an early upgrade exception on my ineligible line to make the purchase less painful (kept her NE2 for when I upgrade :))). Careful, respectful conversation will often bring desirable results (read: don't yell at CSRs).

I know that by posting this before catching up with the thread puts me in a position to have already been ninja'd.

I am banking on family to filter money into my jmar-needs-a-nexus-for-xmas-fund :).

This is actually an excellent point - if Verizon is really planning to do away with grandfathered unlimited plans as suggested by the Android Central source, getting a new LTE phone and locking into unlimited for 2 more years is crucial.

EDIT: Why do all my posts seem to get stuck right at the ends of pages? Quite frustrating.. :/

Nothing a quote can't fix.

The grandfathering isn't stopping on the 29th is it? I mean, the unlimited data already stopped, so those of us grandfathered into unlimited data should still be fine even with a late December or, God forbit, an early 2012 release. No?

I'd assume they'd have to honor any grandfathering until 2 years after the last unlimited contract was signed.

Right. According to the source (which appears to be just an educated guess), they would stop supporting the grandfathered unlimited plans around March, which means as long as we update before then, it would be fine for the next 2 year contract. Here's the link to the relevant Android Central forums thread.

Yeah...I was in NYC this summer for a week on vacation and thought...that'll be nice to escape this Alabama heat and humidity. Boy was I wrong...95+ degree heat nearly every day we were there. Still not as bad as a 95+ degree day in Alabama, but it wasn't pleasant.

We arent nearly as humid as you are,But when it rains NYC is the only city that makes its own gravy!

Completely disagree... LG makes some really nice phones. Just few and far between.

Few and far between at best. If my enjoyment of $3,000 of my hard-earned money depends on a device, personally I am going to go with a provider and manufacturer combination that has demonstrated sustained proficiency. Just like I am sure T-Mobile and AT&T have certain areas with good signal and reception, VZW has more areas and is more consistent, and that has been a familiar refrain in here. Same with manufacturers. I am not going to pass on a Nexus device or the Rezound in hopes that some future LG device is one of those "few and far between."

Basically, the contract you signed 2 years ago (Lower ETF, Unlimited Data, Annual Upgrade for Main Line, Higher loyalty discounts) is leaps and bounds better than today. Verizon's been able to slowly eat away at the perks.

Not that others haven't. To me Phone Company collusion is pretty evident. (Let's all suck equally for better profits) Just look at text messaging which is criminal that it is being charged on top of a data plan.

Ok, phew. :)
Just make sure to take that with the appropriate amount of salt; like I said, the "source" is an Android Central forums member "who's been right before." Still, it is worrisome.

Actually, my main concern at the moment is that I'm re-reading Verizon's changes to the NE2 policy from back at the beginning of 2011, and I'm realizing that I'm square in the middle of the "months 13-20" period of my contract where I'm not allowed to upgrade. :/ I've had my Droid since May 2010, which I think puts me in month 19. Uh oh.

I think you still have 1 last annual upgrade. If the sit says you're eligible, you are.

Edit: Yeah, they killed off the annual upgrade in jan. 2011

BREAKING NEWS!!! 1-3" of SNOW expected tonight and tomorrow here!!!!

Folks...I live in ALABAMA....and it's NOVEMBER!!! If you told me I'd see snow before I held my own Nexus in my hands, I would've had you admitted to the nut house!

And to add to the irony, there is no awesome white stuff on the ground in minnesnowless and none in the forecast:mad:

I probably will have the Nexus in my hands before it snows. Unfortunately I have neither right now...sigh.

You should be able to tell from the website if you have a discounted price available.

Got to keep the salt handy... Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
